I have: split shot - chain - phys dmg - added fire - faster attack

slower projectiles is an option for the MORE damage multiplier on it
Sure, the lab can be hard, but it's pretty easy if you're properly geared, and not terrible at the game.

It seems like you run a CoH for Assassin's Mark, in that case you should run increased crit strike chance.
