Help Tidal Island on Merc is brutal hard

Just finished Cruel act 3; and Merc Act 1 is kicking my butt. I need help figuring out what is the problem here. I believe I have went down the right path on the tree and I have decent resistances I think. I could really use some help on what to do from here? Do I go back to cruel act 3 and farm? I have killed that Hillock like 80 times and not a single unique has dropped. It's getting frustrating I lost half a level running the tidal island quest because I can't take a hit. I'm at the appropriate level but finding the right links on gear is getting ridiculous it should be easier not harder as you go up in levels. I even search white items so I can upgrade them if need be. # Frustrated.

Most players skip tidal island and fetid pool if they don't have a strong char, those areas are likely 5 or 6 levels above yours and contain optional quests so you can do it whenever you feel confident.
And decent resists aren't enough in merci, cap them or die (unless playing a summoner or one hell of a ranged glass cannon that can pulverize anything before it can touch you, that can work for first two acts). Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

For tidal island cap your ice resist.
For stinky cave 1 shot skeletal rhoas or come back later. On second thought, just come back later :) Second-class poe gamer

" 1. Skip Tidal and Pool, move further, level up, than come back and do them. 2. No point in farming Hillock, it's a waste of time. 3. And yes, get your elemental resists to 75% with gear and passives ASAP. Or you'll be dying to any elemental nuke/burst. 4. Good low level map for farming is Ledge. There are no super hard monsters, and the map itself is straight. Get there and farm it! |

It's normal to die on tidal island, unless you have 75 cold resist you'll almost always die in 1-2 hits from that uber-hacked glacial cascade. Eve with 75 cold resist you still might need sapphire flasks, or VERY high damage to kill him before he even uses the move. Merc version of that boss is almost as hard as a unique beyond boss seriously...
