Hybrid Melee + Totem Templar Questions

wondering if a Templar with Flame Totem and Attack ability would be viable. It's just a style I'd lke to play: The idea is me tanking and freezing the enemies in the front while the flame totem does help with a good amount of frequent damage behind me.

The weakness of this combination that I found is chance to hit. Flame Totems don't profit from %Accuracy nodes, and Resolute Technique disables the Totem's critchance. And ofc attackspeed/castspeed.

However you can use IronWill-gem to make use of your strength to increase the totem's damage further if you have the gem-slots.

So while I see that it's not an optimal build, I still want to make it as effective as possible in its only criteria of given spells.

Here is the build for 97 points (so char lvl 78, +40life). I am currently leveling him up, because I like to go through all stages myself, rather than respeccing an old character.

Only 78? Yea it's a fun char, I don't think I will be leveling him up more, especially since awakaneing is coming in a few months.
(If you wanted to go higher - Sovereignty(4pts) + Inner Force(3pts), for more/better Buff/Aura usage, so clevel 86)

You can potentially make it work, to some degree. And I remember seeing flicker strike - searing bond build here somewhere. I don't, however, see much point in doing something like this. Melee and totem builds have very different playstyles and generally require different nodes on tree and stats on equipment.

Thanks for your thoughts. Well, the common nodes are elemental damage and enhancements, and of course a few specialized but worthy melee/spell nodes that are only 2-talents away everywhere. Rest is some mana, some res, and alot of Life/lifereg and Armor.

It is only about 10 talent points "wasted" by supporting the individual skill.
Of course while leveling a few +Allres nodes are being taken, those will be replaced later, as you can see in the 97 version.
