Do you like how Herald of Ash turned out?

In a nuthsell:
I don't like that currently 90% of melee&ranged builds use it, meaning 90% of melee&ranged builds will cast a firecircle on each kill.
-It should be only worth to use when you mostly specialise to fire by spend passive/gear/etc on fire things, instead of a skill for everyone, a must have... Like if you have no firedmg passives, the overkill igniting would be really weak...
-It is too powerful, giving a simple phys attack a big aoe dmg....
-It is dumbing down things, somehow not fits into poe this way...every pantless melee running around, igniting-burning everything from a single phys hit just because it uses herald of ash...

personally I dont use ash on any of my builds, I think its pretty garbage tbh. Has some niche uses where its good, otherwise for me its just an ultra stupid looking fire thing on your hands that gives you a pretty pathetic amount of damage.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
Was some tweak last closed beta patch

"Reduced the amount of overkill damage turned into Ignite and the radius on herald of Ash."

As someone who plays a lot of melee, I wasn't at all impressed with it. 15% more physical as fire and a very negligible burn aren't something I would consider mandatory on any of my builds. When I use it, it's usually because I have nothing better to do with my mana.

Before herald of ash there was no point in building for single target skills. Even with it melee aoe isn't anything special compared to range. Its already getting nerfed by the elemental prolif change.
people use HoA for 15%-damage-as-fire and the burns are mostly circumstantial

but when built-around the burns are very very good - mostly the janitorial role (clearing almost dead mobs), dealing with fractured and in general increasing clear speed significantly

Cheap damage conversion. Majority of players often take it just to make use of the unused mana. Garbage in general, unless working around crit or burn proli.

I quite like it. Lately I've been experimenting with Molten-Claw Ranger/Scion and having HoA is a decent way to dump the remaining mana (and enforce +Fire/Crit/Overkill) and have something to quell the amount of runners or stray mobs that flee off-screen constantly.

On the other hand, it's blatantly obvious that there is an exceptional amount of better options to have in its place, so I'm not too sure what the fuss is about. If you're already running auras or actives, squeezing HoA in on top of it is awkward without mana-reduction or mana-passives - so it's likely to be the first thing you'd dump if needed.

Not sure how anyone is translating it as anything above average in its current form - it's just decent. Considering one gem can change your whole playstyle, using "it makes pure phys into X" as an argument is pretty silly.
