Why is my GPU temperature so high while playing POE

I just checked my GPU temps while playing and they were higher than expected!

My GPU fan speed is at 100% and the driver is up to date.

I am currently running path of exile with the following setting:

display mode: windowed
resolution 1272x954 (custom)
vsync off.
shadows off.
AA off.
texture medium (cant change this for some reason).
trilinear texture filtering.
post processing off.
screen shake off.

MSI Afterburner is displaying temperatures ranging from 75-80 Celsius! I tried lower resolutions also and there was no noticable difference in gpu temperature.

Game has been crashing at times, during boss fights mostly.

Try turning vsync on.

With V sync off frames aren't limited and can really put a lot of stress on the GPU causing very high temps.

Have you removed Asus ROG/GameFirst yet?
Interesting. I will run the game with VSYNC on to see if that helps. I have always known vsunc to cause the gpu to work more that is why i turned it off.

I started monitoring the hardware with MSI Afterburner and i got the following results:

I Think I Love You (NOHOMO)!
I can't believe that actually reduced it by 15-20 Celsius!

Thank you kind sir!
sync is less work because it is limiting the GPU to only render as many frames as your monitor can display.

less frames is less work.
THANK YOU GUYS!

Depends on monitor too. Try clean that dust off fans and use fresh pastes.

BTW. This won't always be the case - if your GPU can't reach your monitor's cap, it will go 100% anyways. It is only the case when your GPU can render more frames than your monitor can show.
