Random Map Layouts
What do you guys think of an orb that would give maps an implicit mod, where it would make maps randomly roll a diferent map layout?
Something like: "Random Location" For example: Necropolis (lvl 75) Dried Lake (lvl 66) You could use the orb on a Necropolis map and play in a Dried Lake lvl 75 with the Necropolis Boss (and mobs maybe?) I think this change alone would massively reduce the monotony of late game maps. And the best part is you would never know what you would get. RNG Magic EDIT: What this means is: We use the orb on map X and we get the layout of map Z. We play on map Z with the difficulty level and boss (maybe mobs if possible) of map X. What do you mean that the league is not rewarding or fun? You put in 5 useless items in the device and you get 1 useless item... Oh wait! /Talisman League(2015/2016) Oh look, Synthesis League(2019) = Talisman League all over again. Last edited by x_KOR_x#2330 on Jun 22, 2015, 4:54:54 AM

You would get an insane market for the right maps. Getting a lvl 78 dried lake would be worth a lot.
I expect a destroyed market for maps. But.... I really do like it. Daily Zana was a very nice change in maps. High level maps are boring due to lack of difference and Zana was a relieve on that. I like it, but again, it wouldn't do any good for the market. |

" Hmmm, you got me there. Good solution. I tinkered with the idea a while back, hence my reply. |

" I love this idea. It's sort of like leaving maps unidentified. You dont know what you get and you get quantity for the risk. I could see a similar scenario with this. There is risk involved with random location. For every 78 Mountain Ledge you randomly get, Imagine getting a 78 Torture Chamber or 77 Dungeon. |

Just don't know how hard would this be to implement! At a first glance doesn't seem to overboard.
I mean, the map level its already there (on the original map) it would only require to replace one boss for the other!! Maybe? What do you mean that the league is not rewarding or fun? You put in 5 useless items in the device and you get 1 useless item... Oh wait!

It's a great idea, and one that I'd certainly like to see, to break up the monotony that is tiered mapping.
However, there are two possible issues I can think of that'd have to be worked around: 1) Many bosses are designed around their map tier. Theoretically, a lvl 66 map boss bumped up to mlvl 78 becomes unbalanced (too hard, or too strong). Specific examples that I can think of that I've personally run into through Zana are Turbovaal, Torture Chamber boss, and Dominus. This is acceptable for Zana since A) it's interesting and unique, and B) it's a "free" map, so skipping the boss doesn't really penalize you, but as a map mod it becomes somewhat more troublesome. 2) It will become a practically universal map mod for the well-known hardmode bosses. Who wouldn't reroll a Torture Chamber to get this to drastically increase the odds of getting a reasonable (or easymode) boss? Both of these could be resolved by not swapping the boss, just the map/tileset/mobs. Edit: The obvious answer to my Torture Chamber question is: people with super high lightning res, but you get my point IGN Stuns_McNutshot | Ichimans_McIchimans | Balls_McCritterson Last edited by tsftd#4843 on Apr 15, 2015, 8:01:40 PM
