What happened dec 25?

Hello Everyone..

I'm not a technical person... So this will just be based on my best guesses.

Last night while I was playing Torment on my noob witch, something happened on GGG side of the game.
I was farming catacombs like I do most of the time, but all the sudden whenever I tried to go to marketplace, my game would DC.
I tried going to marketplace 3 times and I got DC all 3 times, then I tried going to other places without any problems.

Sad to have lost the ability to farm catacombs, I went to destroy the docks.

While I was there I notised something a bit strange... My latency was perfect...
I mean it was just insisting on staying at 31-32, spiking once in a while to like 40-70, but then immediately going back to 31-32...

Over the last week latency issues(250-1500 average) have made it very hard for me to play, I even downloaded AutoHotkey, just for the /oos button...

But since whatever happened last night, I have never experienced PoE to run so well.

My best guess is that whatever crashed at GGG side, was broken... PLEASE DONT FIX IT!
Was it a server? No idea... Did something even crash? I have no clue... But SOMETHING happened and it was good...

Don't take my amazing latency from me GGG!!! PLEASE!

Thats whats been happening, not anything to do with the server but connections to it which are outside of GGG's control, probably something to do with it being Xmas and every fucker being off work and online kicking in some throttling or overloading certain nodes

Your words made no sense to me, but you seem to know something I don't understand.
Thank you for the link, I copied my OP and posted in it in that thread also.

I was meaning that the server and everything that GGG can control is fine, what has probably happened is that with the excess of people online all around about the one time it has had an effect like a ddos but on a smaller scale.

Visualize the net like the passive skill tree, take any starting area and head to another classes start area,there are many possible ways to get there, normally the connection takes the shortest route..something might be wrong with one of the nodes or it might have limited capacity making things slower so it may take another of the possible routes which is less optimal.

Problem being with so many online over the xmas period many of the nodes between you and the server will be having problems, hence the can't connect.
