Ambidexterity offhand atkspd question

I'm pretty sure this passive tree node got changed with the newest league, but if not please forgive me, I don't remember it being like it is now, been awhile since I've been on.

Anyways, my question is how the node actually effects your character. So the main hand has 26% increased damage, that's easy enough to understand, but the offhand has 20% increased attack speed.

How does that translate to when you are dual wielding and attacking with both weapons at once with Dual Strike? Lets say you use Dual Strike, since you're using both weapons to attack, does it make the whole skill faster? Does it ONLY effect the offhand weapon when you are not using Dual Strike?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm just trying to understand the mechanics of it all.

Thanks.

When dual-wielding, your attack speed is averaged between the two weapons anyway. I think this is true even if your attack can only use one of the weapons (e.g. Double Strike).
There are three differenct scenarios i can think of although it would be nice to get confirmation on that:

1. for skills that use both weapons like Dual Strike and Cleave the node will have the same effect as having 13% increased damage and 10% increased attack speed for each hand.

2. skills that alternate weapons also take the average attack speed of both weapons so it would act like having 26% extra increased damage in the main hand weapon and 10% extra increased attack speed on both.

3. some skills would normally alternate weapons but are restricted to certain weapon types. If you use these skills while having a non-applicable weapon in the other hand, you will still get the generic dual wield dps bonus but use only one of the weapons. Depending on what hand you hold the weapon in, you could then get either the attack speed or the damage bonus - or the attack speed may be averaged as well*.

You could use this tactic to boost the dps of one weapon by equipping another very fast weapon that cannot be used with that respective attack (basically you 'fake' dualwielding to boost just one weapon). Only the applicable weapon will be used to attack but will still hit faster because of the other one. Using an offhand Brightbeak for Viper Strike / Double Strike or using a very fast offhand foil for Groundslam would be some obvious applications for that.

*I am not entirely sure but it shouldn't be that hard to test and i will probably do so later.

Bump, has anyone ever confirmed this? I wondered the same thing what happens with Ambidexterity when you use Duel Strike or Cleave? If you're using both weapons at the same time then you can't increase the attack speed of one but not the other.

Bump as well. I'm trying to find out how Ambidexterity interacts with Cleave (and also Lacerate out of curiosity) and found this from a Google search. I'm a pretty new player (3 weeks, one character) so not obvious to me how to test without spending scarce refund points. Thanks!
Not sure what the question is.
With Cleave, you want to have your slower weapon in the main hand and the faster in the off hand, to get better bonuses when the attack speed is averaged out due to DW mechanics.
With Lacerate, you want to use a stat stick, and one weapon that can use Lacerate which you put in the hand that you think provides better bonuses for you, probably the off hand for attack speed.
