Can you "unlink" a corrupted item with lvl 8 Vorici?

Hey, I have a 3 link (for 4 sockets) corrupted pair of boots.

I want to relink it somehow with a 2 link and one socket unlinked.

So far my first try with someone with vorici got a notice of "this item already has a greater or equal linked group."

Does anyone know if it is possible and what steps you had to take to relink from a max linked item?

normally this is only a problem at 5L5S and 6L6S items.

Try making it a 4S item if it can and then fuse
