What PROCs a critical strike?
|
Hi all,
My question is based around the skill gem Rain Of Arrows and what will assist in a critical strike proc'ing? I'm trying to get my head around as to what actually causes a critical strike to go off. Is it purely based on your critical strike chance/global of weapon or support gems? Or does the damage applied to a hit affect the chance to cause a critical strike to proc, and how much does damage play a factor if any. Yes I know damage has to be applied of x value to increase the overall damage applied by a hit, but how important is it. I understand the critical strike chance/global/multi, but something has to initially cause the strike to occur, is this solely based on the damage been applied by the hit. There's literally a percent Chance to Crit listed on your weapon. Maybe that has something to do with it.
When a Skill is activated, a roll from 0-99 is made to determine whether the Skill will Crit or not. The result of the roll is checked against the final Crit Chance as listed on the Character Sheet. If it rolls below, the Skill Crits. |

It has absolutely nothing to do with damage. I have Ancestral Bond and cannot do damage myself and I can crit just fine (That's how I get power charges with Power Charge on Crit).
What is your critical strike chance listed in your character tab? Guild Leader The Amazon Basin <BASIN>

" http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Critical_Strike You attack with Rain of Arrows, the game rolls your chance to hit vs the targets evasion, if you hit, it then rolls your critical strike chance, if a critical is rolled, the game rolls to hit 1 more time, and if you hit, a critical strike happens. This is why having high accuracy is important for a crit build. Last edited by Agashi#7145 on Sep 16, 2014, 10:25:02 AM

Thx guys,
Did a little more research and yes, it's so call by a roll of the "dice" and your own critical chance from gear etc. Nonetheless thank you for the replies. As I know understand it has nothing to do with damage, that is until a strike occurs, then damage and multipliers are factored into the calc.
