Rain = Lag
|
Since Patch the game is nearly unplayable for me on areas with rain (like slide show). It was borderline before e.g. on docks. But now its not possible to play in areas with rain for me anymore. Can we please get an option to turn off the rain? Its a performance problem with CPU (my: AMD Athlon II X2 250) since my Skype call starts to get lags aswell.

" Seems you already know what the issue is... you need to upgrade your PC. So there's really not much we can do for support. If all you want to do is suggest they add an option to disable rain, then you should do that in the Suggestions or Feedback forum and not here in Support. This is the forum to actively support user issues. In your case, there's no much we can do to support an older PC experiencing bottlenecks such as the one you posted. |

Since when do people need to upgrade their PC to play a free-to-play game? If rain is the problem then let us turn off the weather. This game isn't exactly a graphics showcase, and lots of people didn't have these kind of problems until Forsaken Masters came out.

" Free or not should make zero difference to whether or not a game requires you to upgrade your PC to play it. What if they made Skyrim Free-to-play? Would that have any bearing at all on the requirements of the game? I think not. " Actually, this game IS a graphics showcase. The details of PoE are very high... while you might not see or appreciate it, that doesn't mean it isn't there. In addition to that, their engine is still fairly immature and in need of serious optimizations. As you said, it's a free-to-play game. If you'd like to suggest an option to disable weather effects, post it in the Suggestions or Feedback forum. There is no option now for it, so there is not a lot of "support" we can do for that problem. I have a feeling GGG won't add the option because it ruins the immersion, and really you should be upgrading your PC if it doesn't play the game properly. My PC has no issues at all in rain zones or anywhere else. I get a nice steady game with no lag or stutters. I also upgraded my PC so it was able to play it. That's the nature of PC gaming. Don't like it, then you should get a console. |

had no problem with rain before patch, now, after some time of playing, several act zones(Docks, Ebony Barracks, The Crossroads) are causing 100% load of CPU for several minutes and game become very laggy. I believe it's my processor being bottleneck now, but was no problem before 1.2 (Win7pro 64-bit, Core2Duo E7200 @ 2.53GHz, 4096MB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti, system and game are running on Corsair Force GT SSD). Is it rain or something else?
Playing with 70-80ms ping, which is causing long loading between zones,
resulting in 2-4 minutes disadvantage in 1 hour races. (I was wrong, it wasn't a ping issue but something else on GGG side) |

" I've added extra 4GB of RAM to my system and it looks like that problem in rainy location has been solved. I'll edit post if it will come back, have to do some more testing. Playing with 70-80ms ping, which is causing long loading between zones,
resulting in 2-4 minutes disadvantage in 1 hour races. (I was wrong, it wasn't a ping issue but something else on GGG side) |
