cross league trading clarification please
I play on standard, I don't have any other characters on HC leagues except a level 4 scion in the 2 week race.
I wanted to buy an item with standard exalts from someone in Invasion so that he would rip that item to standard. He reported me apparently... So my question is : is that really the type of cross league trading that is not allowed? I was under the impression that if I had paid with standard exalts but asked for the item on Invasion, only then would it be illegal. That would actually give me an advantage if it were at the start of a league etc, but I don't see a problem with transferring an item to standard and then selling it there for standard exalts. Would appreciate if someone could clarify for me please. This won't really happen again but I was still wondering if I was in the wrong here. That's pretty clear. While I agree that the spirit of the ruling probably wasn't being breached by you, it's still the case that trading between permanent leagues and the 4 month leagues is disallowed. THAT said, Chris states: "You can still perform cross-league trades (at your own risk) between a league and its hardcore version (Standard to Hardcore, Hardcore to Standard, Domination to Nemesis or Nemesis to Domination). " Where this can be confusing is in the fact that Invasion doesn't filter to Ambush, but to Standard. There is a tangible link between the 4 month hardcore league and standard, whereas Invasion and Ambush remain, to my knowledge, utterly disconnected. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

There is still no unfair advantage to be gained by either party. I understand that they put a general rule to cover all cases, but in this situation, I don't get the item on Invasion and he doesn't get the currency on Invasion. It's not trading prior gametime into an advantage, but I'll remember it and won't mess with the new leagues again.
I'll just wait for the seller's inevitable death and buy it from him on standard. Thanks for the info. #1 spirit shield - #1 ES/all res diamond ring - 6T1 ES/WED/tri-res rustic sash mirror service

" ?????????? That's EXACTLY what it is. You might not view it that way but your view is irrelevant to that fact. |

" People still care/think that an item on Standard matters? There's a huge influx of Invasion items every day, one more or less would hardly make a difference. Exit, pursued by a Plummeting Ursa.

" Not in my situation. I am trading standard exalts for an item I want on standard. Where is the advantage? If I were giving him exalts on standard to have the item in invasion, then it would be unfair. But if he rips the item to standard and I pay him with softcore exalts with an appropriate ratio, I don't really see how that is a problem. Pretty sure same shit was happening with Tamings in Nemesis. People were ripping them to sell on SC, I guess I just went a step further by asking a seller if he would do that for me. #1 spirit shield - #1 ES/all res diamond ring - 6T1 ES/WED/tri-res rustic sash mirror service

Standard currency for standard item is totally fair and legit, provided the seller has ripped the item into standard before the trade is executed (as an added step to make sure everything is within bounds).

Trade. Executed. Heh.
But yes, that was my thought as well. As long as the item is legitimately conveyed to Standard, that's fine. Less 'fine' would be paying Invasion-level currency for the item first, which I think is what Chris' ruling anticipates and prohibits, since it's unsafe (there's a measure of trust in that one) and it's influencing one league's economy with another's. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

" Yeah, that'd definitely be out of bounds. (Well, invasion currency for a standard item would be out of bounds, specifically. Or standard currency for an invasion item.) Perhaps there had just been a horrible miscommunication. "Would you please RIP this to standard for std exalts" is a bit of an odd request. " Would be quite easy actually. The guy with the item can just make a level 1 invasion character, put the item in its inventory and then try and hug Hailrake for 10 seconds. |
