Creating Links Between Gems?

Hi,
Is it possible to create links between gems? Eg, I pick up an item with 3 sockets but none are linked. Is it possible to somehow craft a link between them? | |

Of course, use a fusing orb, although I'd advise you to just find another piece of junk to wear and save fusing orbs for better gear.
You can find basic info like this one on wiki or in mechanics guide. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.
