" Well this is a problem with POE in the general sense. There are lots of ways to mitigate the incoming damage - enfeeble, more life nodes, life on gear, overcapped + extra max on resists + reistance flasks, granite flask, jade flask, purities, molten shell, temp chains, the list goes on and on. The problem with a lot of this stuff is it trivializes the game if you have it and makes the game overly difficult if you don't. Especially when you've got stacking mechanisms like 3% max resist on tree and purities + flasks. Did you know that with purities and the passive tree + flasks you can get to 92% on ALL resistance? That means you're taking 8% of the damage when you would otherwise be taking 25% - less than a third of what people normally take. So what you described is the problem. GGG says "well its easy to facetank dominus if you use all this resistance stuff, so we'll scale up the damage so our game isn't trivialized". Now everyone else gets shit on regularly, which is why you see so many templars and a trivial number of shadows. Even rangers are in a tough spot in HC ladder iirc. It's largely because those max resist nodes are so overwhelmingly good, among other things. my evasion is so high i only insta rip sometimes ----- Bug Fixes: People were using cyclone for actual melee builds, so we nerfed it and made blade vortex. " The mindset you describe is the same that Blizzard used when tuning their raid encounters. They assumed that the top guilds would be buffed with all available buffs, and designed their encounters around that. The problem. of course, was that this at the same time necessitated every player who wanted to have a shot of defeating this boss had to be buffed up with everything that was available and of any use to him. This resulted in players farming longer for the materials they would need for their buffs than actually playing the raid encounters and burnt a lot of people out of raiding (until finally Blizzard realized their error, and limited the amount of buffs you could have on yourself). PoE has the added difficulty of random drops. At least in WoW you could farm the material you needed. In PoE it's (at least self-found and this early into the leagues) absolutely random if you've got maxed resists or not. Let alone resists over 75% (well, I am playing a Ranger, so...). 12/12/12 - the day Germany decided boys are not quite human.

" Yeah, I said it often enough I suppose, it's one of the most basic rules. If you can stack x,y and z in a constantly evolving game - you will sooner or later have to. So when developing a game like this, be more careful with your multipliers than with a hot poker around your balls. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.
