Curse on Hit and Minions
Not sure if this is a bug or intended, but it seems that minions cannot be used with Curse on Hit (which to me feels inconsistent with the wording of the support gem). Is this intended behavior? I couldn't find any posts on it except a brief mention in a feedback thread on the gem when it was released.

Hi there
Curse on Hit is an Attack Support, the minion spell gems are Spells... you need to link an Attack Support to an Attack for it to be able to trigger an attached curse. Regards Gary Please contact support@grindinggear.com if you need any assistance.

It seems to work fine when I swap it out for Lightning Warp, though (spell). It shows up as being supported, I'll go check if it actually curses stuff.
EDIT: Can confirm, it works with Lightning Warp. Seems to work with any spell that deals direct damage (doesn't work with eg. Lightning Trap either). EDIT2: Also, if that's the case, shouldn't it have the 'attack' tag? I used to have a real forum signature Last edited by Portent#0530 on Feb 8, 2014, 3:37:46 PM

Try hitting stuff with the Skill you're casting.
That's why it's not working. |

" That makes no sense, their attacks are still attacks, otherwise multistrike wouldn't work. Old april 2012 account got stolen

Curse on hit only applies to your attacks, the zombies, traps and totems are separate entities attacking independently to you and do not benefit from curse on hit.also read the fist part of the description on curse on hit, stating supported skills

" This is true, but it's inconsistent with other supports. As mentioned, if I use multistrike with my attack, it works just like a zombie as they are both attacks, regardless of source. It's an accurate description of how it currently functions, yes, but not whether it's intended or well-explained in the description. As to it affecting supported skills, did minion gems stop being skills? The description is unclear on why it doesn't affect them. I used to have a real forum signature

Curse on hit means that the supported skill will apply all the curses it's linked to when it hits for damage.
Your minion skill doesn't deal damage, and the minion's attack skill will inherit that property, but both a) doesn't come from a gem and b) wouldn't be linked to any curses if it did. | |
It seems that minions cannot proc any trigger gems. From Mark's explanation, it seems obvious why: they gain the trigger property, but since that property isn't linked to any gems, nothing happens.
Are there any examples of this not being true and triggers proc'ing on minions? |

" Think it's true for all minions, but this type of rule applies to trps, mines, totems and minions and there may only be one that actually causes the trigger effect, that being Fire trap but only in cases where it's the burning ground effect that kills the monster. When this happens the trap has been dead long enough that the game attributes the death to the player...not 100% sure if this will cause the trigger gem to work though. Ancestral Bond.
