Intelligence based skills

I wonder why this game bothered with making blue skill gems when they are so inferior to everything else. It's either summmoner or physical?
Once upon a time, back in the days of CBT/OBT, those blue gems were considered to be OP. Dual Spork Totem, RF scaling on HP alone, Freeze Pulse entire screen.

Physical? Yeah right. Summoner? Make a cup of coffee, do laundry, check news before it clears a 66 map.

Now that the wheel has turned, physical is now on top, as is summoner. Blue went down.
So the reality is if one were to do well during tests (CBT/OBT), one should expect to be heavily penalized during exam (release)? But thanks for the backstory. In the meantime, maybe at least disable all blue gems or the witch class to prevent more folks just trying the game from not enjoying spell casting gameplay if it is to be left underpowered?

What's sad/funny, is that for example a FP caster, the very poster-child of casters, uses more G than B.

LMP / GMP / Cold Penetration / Faster Projectiles / Added Cold / Culling Strike / Mana Leech - stuff you might want on FP, G.
PCoC / Crit Damage / Added Lightning / Added Chaos - stuff you might want on FP, B.

At the very least, once HAS to use LMP or GMP, and usually Faster Projectiles as well.

Starting caster play is indeed fkedup its pure math.

That would only happen in the hands of a brain-dead player. Burned Miscreations still maintain really fast clearing potential, despite cast on death nerf. There's a reason why streamers keep rerolling as summoners in the one-week race.

For whatever reasons, GGG decided, that most spells should be blue gems (even fire-based and non-critting, like Incinerate). And then, they decided, that most spells (which are blue, int-aligned skills) should have shitty crit chance (4-6%, when a non-crit weapon has 5, and crit weapon with mods - up to 10%). And then, they decided, that most mobs should have shitloads of resists to all elements. And map mods should give ass-fucking +75% resistance. And then, they decided, that those spell should have huge mana cost....

Oh, why are spells so inferior? Well, because GGG intentionally nerfed elemental spells (blue) again and again.

This was back in the days of CBT/OBT, where Flame Sentinels were considered OP. So yes, summoners then were considered as slow. I should know, my first OBT character was a summoner.

You forgot the part of them designing every single new monster type added at release to be as anti casters and ES as possible.
