I've got a scion that is mapping right now, not bad but I'll be looking to respec here with the update.

My question is, what are your thoughts of possibly doing a hybrid CoD/eb scion version of this build? And I'm torn on whether I want to continue using incinerate, or if I want to change it up... Kind of bored of burninating. What could you suggest for possible other skill or gem combos for the build?

One last thing. I'd be putting it in a 6l pledge of hands, but I hear spell echo doesn't work with totems? Should I see if I can trade it off or should the PoH suffice to make this build atziri viable

You could use PoH - but without the spell echo, I'm not sure it'd be better than using the totem in your chest 6L and dual weilding some cheap 1-handers. Mana really isn't much of an issue for me, and I really only have reduced cost nodes, which makes PoH kinda undesireable for this build IMO. Now, if you wanted to make Flame Totem go, PoH for the mana might be much more desireable.

Well my thinking is I have it and not a 6l chest.plus, the mana is great with eb cod and then I'd be able to run aa as well, without having to take it from the tree
So I've been looking over the old tree and comparing it to the new one because I think that I'm going to use this build in the new leagues.
It seems like the biggest change will be the lack of reduced mana cost nodes. Is it still worth it to go down past vaal pact since we no longer have the two reduced mana clusters?

I was thinking of scrapping that whole section, grabbing as many life nodes close in to templar as possible and then specing for block to make up for some of the lost life.
Maybe it would be worth taking a Rathpith/ stone of lazhwar ammy then?

I'm wondering why you specced Spiritual Guardian, are you wearing a shield?

The build works very nicely so far. Frost wall takes a little practice to get right, but it's very cool once you can get a nice half-circle in front of you and your totems. Even if you just spam them, the enemies' pathfinding gets confused which is good.

I'd like to add:
- Projectile speed is very nice to have. I have +40% on my wand, and the increased range is very handy because normally mages/archers stand just at the end of the fire so they don't get hit very well.
- Soul Mantle works great if most of your flasks have the "Warding" suffix. I haven't tested it alone against tough bosses though, it may be more problematic.

A few questions I have:
1. What is it with cold snap? I'm not really using it atm, because it never seems to work reliabily…am I doing something wrong, should I curse Elemental Weakness before doing it?
2. What's the advantage of using cold snap as a trap, as opposed to plainly?
3. How do you deal with areas like Wetlands / Marketplace / Crossroads? I mean, when there aren't many walls, and enemies move quickly, I find it hard to stay safe with frost walls.

Soul Mantle with warding flasks was definitely how I started, too. And for SC characters, it's perfectly acceptable to build around it. You'll find projectile speed a lot less mandatory when you get +20 qual on your incinerate.

Regarding your questions:

1. I usually throw 2 traps at a time. At a lower level, these traps will work less and less frequently, but by the time you start getting high level gems, the freeze chance will proc a lot more often.
2. If you don't use a trap, your cold snap won't do damage if you're dual totem. Also, Cold Snap trap has 3 uses stored up, whereas Cold Snap can only be used per cooldown.
3. Marketplace is my least favorite tileset, because there's so much crud on that ground that messes with frost wall. In general, though, more open maps really just mean you have to have more frost walls up (~3, in a triangle ideally) to wall yourself off. Faster moving melee guys can be better interfered with using Cold Snap Trap, but also remember that if you cast FW on a guy in melee (like on his portrait) with you, it will summon a wall between you, and buy you a little space.

1.2 is proving difficult for me to wrap my head around because so much is changing. I have builds in mind, but the inability for me to get to -66% mana cost makes me wonder how much regen I'm going to need. Mana cost is also lower in 1.2, by some unknown amount, and it is reported that GMP is a lot less costly in 1.2 (maybe I'll consider switching to LMP too?). I'll post trees as I have them.

I'm very curious to dualwield two of those, and use a 6L Soul Mantle, the damage must be quite significant.

I made a tree specifically with this in mind; I dont know how it will play out, waiting to see someone elses thoughts on the matter.

My variant looks like it will do much higher dps with somewhat lower life totals. It's something I'm looking forward to playing with. Witch start is definitely going to be something I, as a templar, take advantage of. I'm also moving back to goldwyrm's and getting the 1 additional curse node (I had been using windscreams previously).

Apep's rage seems good. Unfortunately, it came out at a time where elemental damage nodes seem very, very strong - strong enough that I'm not sure I can see using it for Incinerate, personally.

I haven't seen anyone mention Herald of Ice. If that's going to be good for anyone, it's me. Looking forward to it. Here's the tree I'm thinking of using right now when I spec this character (been working on side projects for the time being).
