The New Trade Chat Orb Ratio Scam

So before I begin the topic, let me say this. Nay-sayers, rude posters and trolls will be ignored. If you wish to participate in this discussion, please be polite and refrain from personal attacks and posting simply to be contradictory. Thank you.

If they had read my post, they would see that this is the topic of the thread and 30+ is referring to item trade, not to orb trade.

THIS POST REFERS TO DOMINATION LEAGUE ONLY.

So there's a new prolific scam on trade chat that a lot people seem to be falling for both in buying and selling.

The Exalted to Chaos ratio used to be 1:33-37 in general.
Now, people are trying to buy exalted for 18-25 Chaos.

You might ask, "So what's the problem? Economies shift and prices change right?"
Well yes they do, but that's not what's happening here. I'm gonna do a little math and use a little logic and show you why this is not what it seems to be. This is not a shift in prices or value, this is a scam.

Although ratios can vary slightly depending on the trade, it is generally accepted that Jeweler's Orbs to Chaos is 10:1 making Fusing Orbs 2.5:1. For the most of trade chat, this remains true. It still costs you 1 Chaos to get 20 Alteration Orbs or 20 Chromatic Orbs. None of those orb ratios have changed yet people are trying to get an exalted for 50 Fusing Orbs. Well, let's see 50/2.5 = 20. 20 Chaos for an Exalted? I even saw an ad that where the poster was offering 50 fuse or 8 Gem Cutters Prisms. Gem Cutters Prisms are usually 2:1 to Chaos. So, the poster wants to buy my Exalted for 16 Chaos? Even if we could imagine Gem Cutters Prisms were worth 3:1 that makes it only 21 Chaos. And this is not isolated, spend a little time on trade chat and you'll see it's the norm. So, as you can see, the climate as shifted drastically regarding Exalted Orbs.

You might ask, "So, again, what's the problem? Hasn't the value of Exalted just fallen?"

No, it has not! I'll say that again, no, it has not! The Alpha's Howl still sells for 3-4 Exalted, Shavronne's Wrappings Six-Linked is still 40-65 Exalted, A high roll Bringer of Rain is still 9-13 Exalted and so on. When Chaos is also accepted for these items, it is accepted at least 30:1, no lower. Prices, in general have not changed. The only thing that has changed is that people what to get your Exalted orbs off of you for next to nothing.

Ask yourself one more thing. "If these Exalted Orbs are so worthless, why has trade chat suddenly been inundated with ads in which people are trying to buy them and trading all of their orbs to get them?"

How do we stop this scam? Don't sell you Exalted Orbs for less than 33-37 Chaos as the economy reflects. Let people laugh and jibe you with rude comments but do not accept low trades. Demand a fair price for your Exalted Orbs and people will either pay or not get them!

Also, if you're worried about your Exalted Orbs becoming worthless when the league ends and you want to dump them, trade them for items, not orbs. As stated above, the item prices have not changed.

Now, I know, despite the request at the beginning of my post, there will be many flame posts to follow. Let me end saying, you can flame and troll all day, but the math and logic is sound.

Players, don't give your Exalted Orbs away!
And don't let those people who are trying to scam the rest of us convince you that your Exalted Orbs are worth next to nothing. If that were true, they wouldn't have posts in trade chat dedicated to buying Exalted Orbs nor would they be trading their entire inventory of other orbs away to get them from you. Don't fall for it!

When the leagues end they will be 1:20

Unfortunately it isn't. Not even close.

People don't want to barter, they want every price set. And because currency has several set trade values (in game shops) that means all currency therefore has set trade value. Which means every item has a set trade value.

And thus this is not, in fact, a barter economy. At least to the 1% of players with 50% of the wealth.

Used the "scam" as you are saying above , all my currency to exalts , bought myself : KAoms soultaker etc
at 1/3 even at 1/3.5 of the price :)

Mostly exalts bought at 25 chaos

So a 25 Ex kaoms heart at 38x25 = 950 chaos I payd only 625 chaos in exalts at 25 ratio
So a 40 Ex Soul taker at 38x40 = 1520 chaos I paied only 1000 chaos in exalts at 25 ratio
The list continues :)

Because people were so stupid selling exalts for 22-25 chaos atm ... so I made profit and bought items that never lose they`re value unless they are nerfed !

It totally is, I've always bought exalts for 23-25 chaos you just need to be patient enough for someone willing to do it. It's not scamming it's trading with someone who has agreed on the price.

There isn't that much time left until the leagues end. So if you want to know what the ratios are going to be soon take a look at what they are in standard league because that is where they are going and fast.

I really haven't seen too many people actually selling exalts for 50 fuse, btw.
