how important/unimportant is gold in poe?

The vendors do offer some things for sale though. They operate on a barter system as well. If you want an item listed, their price is a combination of dropped items that you find in the game

I saw a few videos and i actually thought the currency was scrolls. Am i right or its going to turn into gold, FOR ME, i would prefer gold because its less trouble. But oh well, always easy isnt always fun right?
