Using Spork totems JUST for shock stacks viable for summoner?
Was looking at how the two passives that give a total of 20% chance to shock are right next too Minion Instability. So I was wondering If I could go dual spork totems to support my Zombies/spectres and apply shock stacks on enemies fairly quickly with say...
Spark-GMP-Fork-Totem My Spark is 17% quality so it has 51% projectile speed increase which makes them move really fast, So They could fill a room pretty fast with GMP. Of course larger open maps they'd be a bit less effective but in closed off places I could easily see getting max stacks on most mobs in a few seconds for my zombies and spectres to destroy. no, it's really not. The damage is just way too low to reliably shock if you aren't specced for spell damage, especially not with GMP. You might be able to without GMP but it likely won't last very long.

It works fine since as you mentioned the keystone gives you a nice shock %, Arc also works.
One suggestion would be to use totem-GMP-ItemQuantity-Culling if you are going for MF since the damage itself isn't going to be much anyway. Fight censorship

" Hmm...okay new game plan! Replace Shock and its support gems with... Storm Call(Hopefully get a quality one eventually)+Concentrated Effect+Increased AoE+Totem Adjust some stuff in the passive tree to give me some easy 12% increased AoE and a little bit of a damage increase to totem damage and BAM...that should work! " 'Duration = Damage/(Life/100)* 276ms So in order to get a shock you would need to get over 300ms which means the damage should be .11 of the mobs max health. Greater damage would give longer shocks (every .1 of damage to max health would be another 276 ms). Easiest way to check though is to just try it and watch for the effect, I know on my summoner it works with either spork or arc. I prefer manually casting arc using my crappy 5 link chest as it also lets me direct my minions and gives an increase in shock chance. Fight censorship

I tried to manually cast Spark + Fork and I didn't see enough shocked enemies for it to be worth it. A totem will deal half the damage, so I can't see it work much better. I prefer supporting my minions with Fire Traps and Conversion Traps. They require far less investment and get the job done better.
