Quest to ***30*** attacks/sec

Hello everybody,
I'd like to share with you my personal quest to get the highest attack speed possible!


H I S T O R Y


After many many slight and sometimes significant changes to my current build i have concluded a final build variation of myself. A dual-wielding-evasion-based-life-leeching-ranger-tank with damage enough to boot.
My build incorporates eight frenzy charges. With frenzy as my main attack I realized that with a couple certain skill and gear choices, my current unoptimized character can reach 20+ attacks per second fairly easily.

Let me tell you, that is one hilarious thing to witness. I was giggling like a school girl who receieved her first teacher compliment and could not stop, it is seriously very funny to view and especially hear.

Ok enough of the silly stuff most are not interested in, lets get into it.
After viewing myself reach 20 attacks per second pre live, again while not being optimized, i need more. I had the need for speed baby and i gotta get it now.
I decided i needed to build a toon completely spec'd for attack speed in order to reach the highest possible number.

Due to the respec everybody was granted i decided to respect my duelist instead of leveling up a completely new character based on these conditions. On this character i did not get the 8% attack speed bandit reward OR the final frenzy point, so this grants me 26% attack speed short of ideal, but it saves me time from leveling up a new toon.

So lets get into the nitty gritty.

As you can see the math lines up with my goals. This is possible i just need to make it happen. In fact you can even get slightly higher by getting maxed gear like 27% atk spd on foils instead of 25, plus 16% on gloves instead of 12% as well as the extra 26% attack speed im missing. This equates to a possible 34.13 attacks per second. However im only concerned with the goal of 30 as i do not have the resources to completely cap it out.

This is my setup currently.


With the current set up im able to reach 27.44 attacks per second with the foil/eternal sword, and 25.91 with the foil/soul taker! i use the soul taker so i can spam the attacks and make it look and sound HILARIOUS.

As you can see im far from being optimized. Currently missing a 20/20 blood rage, 20/20 frenzy, level 20 haste, as well as the chest piece and optimal gloves.

I am currently not set up to take videos etc, but i will be looking into how to do so, and if anybody can PM me with help on what i need to do etc. I am computer savy so im not a blockhead, i just never really video'd anything before.
I'd like to take videos of attempts and ultimately at 30 attacks per second. Especially if people are actually assisting me (like party and run haste beside me)
So i'll also be researching the best way to go about getting some videos up for people to view because it is seriously, seriously hilarious.

EDIT: updated some calculations!! turns out a LOT more atk spd is possible with a max of 34!! insane.
currently working on getting another 2.13 atk spd foil, leveling haste, and looking for the missing gear for another attempt. should be able to hit over 30 atks per second with 2x foils soon. ultimately looking to hit 30 atks per second WITH soul taker

Back in CB there was a guy with 30 or more APS in legacy, when Attack speed could spawn on some parts of EQ it can't anymore.

Maybe somebody finds the thread again.

Download MSI Afterburner. It has a video capture thing built in. Then it's as simple as setting a hotkey to capture, I use F12, and then playing the game. It detects games automatically and you can define what stats you want to show at the top left. I have GPU usage, ram usage, fan speed, and fps showing.

interesting - apparently frenzy gives a lot more atk spd than i initially thought.

the gem itself at 20/20 gives 18% atk spd per frenzy charge.
base frenzy charges give 5% atk spd to other attacks, but i thought this was overwritten by the gems bonus. apparently its added together so you get 23% atk spd per frenzy charge.

this is a significant boost - i'll edit main post to reflect the new calculations

I've had the exact same idea of getting max attack speed.

The items were slightly different though.
Devoto's Devotion - Helmet 16%
Death's Oath - Armor 15%
Any gloves 16%
Two jeweled rapier with 2.13 attack speed
Two rings of any kind with 16% attack speed on both
And Darkray Vectors
And Kongor's Undying Rage as your swap weapon because you get onslaught and then swap to your jeweled foils. So you keep 32% attack speed bonus from your rings.


And for gems, get blood magic and culling support because they give attack speed bonuses. Also a leveled empower will buff your frenzy to give you some attack per frenzy charge.
So Frenzy - Multistrike - Faster Attacks - Empower - Blood Magic - Culling Strike

whaaat seriously. i swear i looked and made sure you couldn't get atk spd on rings. guess you can, up to 7% max.

well i guess there ya go - 14% more attack speed available, lol

frick the new benchmark is going to become 35 attacks per second!

Also, you should try to get inner force and all the other aura buffs in the passive tree to get more attack speed out of haste and blood rage.

im very close now, recent attempt is 29.41 attacks per second with 2x foil. i'd like to get 30 attacks per second with the soul taker since then i can make a video and show exactly 30 attacks per second.

i am heavily considering making an entire new toon in order to possibly reach 35 attacks per second though....considering it indeed
