Some things to know when building a character:

- Plan out your path in your passive skill tree thoroughly before allocating passive skills. It's usually pretty costly to undo this if you don't have enough respec points from quest rewards to make all the changes necessary.

- The path of your passive skills always has to be linked to your start location on the passive tree by at least one path. It's usually best to figure out the most cost effective path to all the passive skills you would like for your build before allocating points. This will ensure you have enough points to get as many desirable passive skills as possible.

- The maximum character level is 100.

- The only difference between all the character classes is the place you start out at on the passive tree and what skill/support gems you receive as quest rewards. All gear is useable by all characters assuming they meet the level and stat requirements.

Other information:

- Your stash is shared between all your characters of the same league. (You have a new/different stash for each league)

- The maximum level of any skill gem is 20.

- You can hold Ctrl and ALT and click on an item to link it in chat. Chat must be open to do this.

- Holding down the ALT key in gem displays all sockets and links on all your on-screen items.

You forgot to mention two of the biggest most noticeable mechanics of Poe. Gesync and Lag.
Nice guide. Might want to include the Uniques thread for the uniques and a link to the consolidated guide

I'll update it with the consolidation thread but not the other one. The other one loads pretty slowly for me with all the linked items.
Yeah, it kills my machine too.
So I started a character...died five times before getting to the first town, but loved every second.

A more general guide with things like how NOT to die, which character to make for a newbie general good paths for the first 3 levels or so might be useful. Kind of an all encompassing newbie guide...

If this exists please point me to it but I haven't found it yet.
