Quesiton about buying into beta

Hi everyone

Im thinking about paying to get a beta key as i love this game. I would just like to know if they plan on wiping characters still? I was told they would only wipe once the game went into open beta and not again from there. So does this mean if i make a character now it will be wiped? Sorry im a real noob and not that great at understanding english so if any one could explain it to me.
