Yes, chars reset. I enjoyed the open weekend so much, I just had to become a supporter for this game, because it also gives me access to playing the game sooner. :) Though if it was already out, I'd still probably give them some money for making an excellent game. Def more fun than D3.

If you don't get a free beta key from the lottery (or another player with extra keys) the game will be free to play once it goes into open beta "sometime later this year".
