wF's (WildFire) beta weekend feedback thread.

I have cross-posted this from my submission on the Path of Exiles subreddit. Some of the feedback may be geared specifically to that audience.

This is mostly just to thank GGG, their forums just aren't for me because my post will just get buried but I imagine they could potentially see this. I'm really enjoying Path of Exile, this game reminds me greatly of a mix between Diablo and Mercenaries of Astonia (Astonia 3) which is a smaller MMORPG developed by a extremely small team.

Because of this I have absolutely fallen in love with Path of Exile. I'm not going to lie, I haven't really been looking into this game or paying attention to it but now that I've played it I am extremely interested in the direction it is going to go.

Some of the things I enjoyed in the Path of Exile Beta Weekend

- The sound of spells and wand attacks, they sound like they have weight behind them and that makes them feel rewarding too use.

- The magic find / "adventurer" statistics like increased item quantity drop rates or increase the overall quality / amount of rares that drop is a difference I like to see instead of just one grouped up Magic Find stat.

- The passive tree has a lot of options, it feels like I can really be unique or make my character the way I want to make him from the start by selecting a path to take to get up to some of the more noticeable passive unlocks.

- The developer interaction within Global chat is great, I like to see developers in their games discussing mechanics, responding to feedback and overall just being helpful because it makes the community feel tighter and makes me believe that the community in the future will be prouder and more passionate about the game.

- The multiple modes, Hardcore, Default and the basic non-ladder permanent systems seem very unique, I actually read up on this part today and as someone who used to help operate / administrate private realms for Diablo 2 this is something I am extremely interested in.

- The ability to unsocket things like skill gems by right-clicking on it is great, I like this ability. It took me a minute to figure it out but it really allows me to continue to advance my character and not be locked into set items because I invested time into leveling up a skill gem that I now cannot ever use again in another item.

- The notice board system is decent, at first glance it seems a bit disorganized but after looking around the window and dicking around with the UI it's actually very workable and I'm impressed that GGG was able to see this sort of system was needed while Blizzard neglected to add it within Diablo 3 in a somewhat usable form.

Some of the things I believe could be added to Path of Exile to make it a better experience for myself and perhaps other players

* Combat Text / Damage amounts, this is something that I feel should be in the game as an option within the UI menu. It also seems to be requested a lot within the Global Chat.

- Enemy HP / Health Bars, being able to see an enemies HP and their Health Bar above their head is in my opinion much more beneficial than a Health Bar at the top of the screen. I've gotten used to this feature through a lot of games and it's something I'd like to see.

- Steam Integration, through Greenlight I'm sure GGG could convince enough people to bring it to Steams Free-To-Play section however I understand that Valve can be somewhat greedy and demand a larger cut than developers are willing to give. I'd like to see Path of Exile come to Steam if an agreement can be reached that is more beneficial for GGG / Path of Exile than it is for Valve.

- Similar to the suggestion before I'd like to see some sort of Workshop where players are able to submit items that they have made that can be voted on and eventually added to Path of Exile. This sort of system is something that I really enjoyed in Team Fortress 2 and I believe is a natural progression of the modification community Diablo 2 had which allowed people to create things such as MedianXL, Eastern Sun, Kingdom of Tenia, SneJ, Reign of Shadow and many other modifications.

- Scalable UI, I'd like to be able to adjust the overall size of the UI, perhaps even adjust multiple UI elements on their own so that I can better customize the layout and size of the UI to better serve me as a player. More specifically the Life and Mana orbs I feel are too large for my 1920 x 1080 resolution, I'd also like to scale the potions down a bit more, move the skill locations and scale them so that I don't need to see them in their large form because I don't typically stare at the UI so it's mostly wasted space.

Overall I have been enjoying Path of Exile and I'm excited for the next beta weekend when I will be able to play it again. Thank for for making a good game GGG, I am impressed by how fun this game turned out to be. I'll update this as I find more things I enjoy with the game or think of more suggestions.

A reddit user by the name of Geophrye has given me his personal key that he recieved through his package purchase. Because of him I will be able to continue playing this game and I am incredibly grateful and hope that I can help improve this community and game in the future.
