I remember a similar thing happening in the Church Dungeon (Aurora Borealis thread) but this is so much better.
XD Rave, anyone?
I got this in dark forest last night, could barely play. I pushed on to the weaver cave and it was fine in there except I couldn't see the map at all, either the mini or full one.

I have 2 Radeon 6850's.

BTW, I have 8 case fans (Antec DF-85) and my cards rarely go over 60 celcius.
Well hello Mister Fancypants. Well, I've got news for you pal, you ain't leadin' but two things right now: Jack and shit... and Jack left town.

Update:

This was happening with an absolute vengeance last night, fiance and I were running maps with two other people and all four of us were getting the graphic glitch followed quickly by the entire game locking up.

I noticed if I moused over the center of the screen my pointer changed from the POE mouse pointer to a windows one. Using the pointer transition, I could tell there was an actual error box there that I could not see.

Alt+Tab caused whatever it was to close so I went digging into my event viewer to find out what it said. I found a trend with the errors reaching back before 0.9.11 with the same event log error for almost every crash I have encountered.

I've included the two most recent ones from last night below. I completely updated my directx after finding the first of these last night from Microsofts website and then I went to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Grinding Gear Games\Path of Exile\Redist

From here I ran the dxsetup.exe manually to ensure that all of GGG's required Directx settings were applied to the computer.

I promptly encountered the same problem about an hour later.

Just let me know if you want me to transition my posts to the Support & Bug Reports forum. Hopefully we can track down what's causing this bug for everyone before it gets to out of hand.

yeah i get this every time after a patch, after a few days in gos away strangely in the pyramid btw.

ati 12.6
HD 6670 2Gb
"Blue warrior shot the food"
Just happened to me, too.It started with a lot of lag, then the minimap of the area became tottaly empty after reentering the zone, an enemy got 'transparent', then the lights and black squares, tiles of floor disappeared and a green 'aura effect' appeared behind me - I was using clarity at the moment, might be the cause of this last effect. The event was restricted to certain areas.Every time I walked around those areas, it would trigger the weird effects - in my case, a bonfire in Western Forest and in and around Alira's place.

ATI Radeon HD 5770
The drivers are up to date.
I've been getting this since the last 2 patches. Same as everyone else - restarting the client fixes it up for a while. If I continue on for 20 - 30 minutes when the 'lightshow' starts happening, the client.exe will crash out.

Got it playing in a party of 4 in dark forest yesterday. Running a Radeon 6750M with 12.6 catalyst.

I never got this bug on Windows, but I tried playing on Linux using Wine and I seemed to get it everywhere outside of town in Act 2. I hadn't played since the latest patch though, so not sure whether it was the patch or the difference between WinXP and Wine.

GeForce 9600GT w/ 512MB video memory
NVIDIA proprietary driver 302.17
4GB RAM
Wine 1.5.9 (as XP)
Got this bug in many dungeon type maps (church, vaal ruins etc.), it's ok for a while after I restart the game. Sometimes see it in normal maps but only after being in a dungeon.

It gets much worse when I use phase run. Seems to affect the mini and larger map.

Lights, decals on wals appearing for a short while (like spider web on walls going yellow/green), whenever you point at a breakable (like pots) there is white/yellowish rectangle apperaing in top right corner (disappears when yo point away or break the pot).

This was seen on a XPS L702x laptop (i7-2670QM, NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M, 8RAM). Most up to date official driver, not at home can't check.
