Mac players abandoned: crashes, lost money, no PoE2 — we deserve answers
Dear GGG,
As a long-time Path of Exile player on Mac, I can no longer stay silent. After years of enduring second-rate support, the situation has become unacceptable. Since the latest update, the game is unplayable on macOS: constant crashes, instability, and performance issues have made it impossible to enjoy even basic gameplay. And let's not forget the long-standing bug that forces (Mac?) users to enter /dnd just to prevent the game from crashing on startup — an issue that’s been around since at least mid 2024, if not earlier. How has such a basic flaw been left unresolved for so long? This isn't just about minor bugs. Many Mac players have invested hundreds of dollars — if not more — in supporter packs, stash tabs, cosmetics, and so on. Now we are left with a broken client and zero communication. Frankly, we feel cheated. To make matters worse, Path of Exile 2 still isn’t even planned for Mac, as far as we know. What are we supposed to think? That Mac users are just not worth your attention anymore? We need: - An official statement on the future of PoE on macOS (especially Apple Silicon: M1/M2/M3) - A fix or rollback for the current version's game-breaking crashes - And if a fix isn’t coming soon, a refund option for affected players Ignoring an entire segment of your paying player base is unacceptable. You’ve built a loyal following — including many Mac users — and we deserve transparency and respect. Last edited by Hebus_2nd#6039 on Jun 14, 2025, 5:22:02 AM Last bumped on Jun 15, 2025, 7:05:33 AM

The mac client - both standalone and Steam, have been broken for years now. The standalone client sort of works with a workaround that is not guaranteed to always work. This is outlined on a discord mac-os channel.
There is also an alternative that allows you to play via the Windows client on a Mac. There is a discord channel in the Path of Exile discord called mac-os. On there is a pinned message about how to run the game via the Windows client. Here is the wiki link - https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Guide:Path_of_Exile_on_Mac_using_Windows_Client This allows you to play POE2 - either by a free license if you spent enough over the year or if you buy the Windows EA. Discord channel link is at the bottom of the wiki page GGG are not going to fix the mac client. They don't have the knowledge in-house. It isn't a priority for the 12 of us playing via a Mac. Supposedly there is a new client in the works for POE2. It has no release date. Judging by the mess the current clients are in I cannot see it working at all. |

Thanks for your reply and the detailed suggestions.
It’s pretty clear that GGG has been neglecting macOS support for a long time now. From what I’ve seen, it’s not even a concern for them anymore — let alone a priority — to provide proper maintenance for the Mac client, despite still advertising macOS compatibility as a feature of the game. As for alternatives like CrossOver or similar solutions, I personally find it unacceptable to pay extra just to be able to play a “free” game — especially one I’ve already invested a huge amount of both time and money into. I’d really like to hear from other Mac users who are facing the same issues. It seems we’ve been left behind, and I think it’s important that we speak up collectively. At this point, I’m even starting to wonder whether there’s any kind of official recourse — consumer protection or refund requests — for players who have spent real money on microtransactions or supporter packs, based on the promise of a functional Mac version that no longer exists in practice. |

This is the result of placing Mac loyalty over POE.....(despite both companies are not good nowadays , after having a year long league)

" Wrong. This isn’t about "Mac loyalty" over PoE. It’s the result of choosing a reliable machine for work first, not gaming. Many of us use Macs primarily for professional or creative purposes — gaming is secondary. As for claiming that both companies are "not good," that’s your personal opinion. I believe both have their strengths and weaknesses. The difference, from what I’ve seen, is that one company still seems to care about its user base — while the other has clearly deprioritized ours. Of course, both chase profit and cut costs — that’s a given. But how they treat their users while doing so makes a huge difference. |

" people buying a PC dedicated for gaming. Mac does not support a lot of game, giving GGG gave a lot of false promise, like delaying the 3.26 league and confess they haven't even start any development. Why you expect GGG will superior than Blizzard and offer Mac support? Why just go to ask Blizzard to offer their Diablo to Mac first? This is the start of forum signature: I am not a GGG employee.
