Scarab that adds 2 scarab slots

I think it would be a good idea to introduce a very rare scarab which, when
it is inside your map device, adds 2 additional temporary slots for that map (single use, limited to 1).

Sounds like a cool idea in principle - though I'd be surprised if it's trivial to implement, as I can't think of any instances in Path of Exile where storage size is determined by something contained within that storage, so they may need to do substantial refactoring to facilitate it.
Adds 2 random scarab mods maybe, but not two slots where you can use your own scarabs.
Absolutely NOT! This game needs cutting, not increasing.

Scarabs should be inherently more effective (like combine multiple scarabs BACK into 1), be more limited (no more "you can use 5 of these"), and there should be less slots on the machine for them.

I think chisels should be a map device item, not a map modifier item. The map device should have 2-3 scarab slots, 1 chisel slot, 1 additional modifying slot (for new items or things that act like fragments do). Want more corrupted items? There should be an item for that. Want more fractured items? Item for that. Quality items? Item for that. More belts? Item for that.

Let the atlas tree be the primary way to adjust LEAGUE mechanics, there's no need to layer that with the scarab system the way we do now. They could be far more creative with less balancing troubles.

Atlas Tree: league mechanic adjustments, bossing, and map drops ONLY

(Map device Mods)
Scarabs: Monster type / pack size / rarity / generic buffs / Explicit map mods etc. Scarabs are more rare to drop, and there are far far far less types. NO double+ usage scarabs, all limited to 1.
Chisels: Map Quality types, can add more than what we currently have.
Fragments: item modifiers (ex: uber elder fragment = unlocks fractured item regular drops, Uber Atziri fragment = x% of items drop as belts instead)
