The way "campaign" should be played by your second and any subsequent characters.

- Your first char has to run full campaign. Obviously.
- You can run whole campaign with your second char as well if you like to. Or you can pick a "Successor Mode" (checkbox at the character creation screen and in the options). In such case: - Every waypoint activated by your previous character(s) remains activated. - Every quest completed by your previous character(s) remains completed. - You get all quest related skill points and rewards (from corresponding act) at the start of each act. - Act bosses remain as skill/DPS checks and you have to fight them to progress to next act. - You can level up in any area if you feel like you need some levels, or you can hit the boss right away. Personally, I would be fine with something like the boss of the maps or entrances to the next maps always showing after completing the campaign once

I'd like to see an "Adventure" mode you're eluding to here, something akin to D3's but I don't know if the foundational code could support some kind of procedural quest generation in the different leveled zones for some kind of reward, maybe an extra shot at loot/currency and they could incorporate the world and personalities into them so it doesn't feel too contrived. I am also not a game developer if that wasn't obvious already so all of this could be pie in the sky. The campaign has been amazing thus far but I could see it wearing a bit thin after some time, being forced to do it over and over again.

i do see where you're going with this but i'd say majority of the players dont even understand the fundamentals of the game. I also would like to be able to create a new lvl 70 character instantly. But honestly, i think its probably best to have players start lvl one again just so they can see their progression

Think about what Jonathan has said on this subject. He's not removing the campaign because he'd prefer to make the campaign fun enough that you're happy to not skip it.
So why do you want to get to endgame so much? Why is it better than the campaign? What could they do to make you want to play through the campaign? |

trust me ,
they wont allowed us to skip campaign , never . Even less in PoE 2 than in PoE 1! |

" It's not even about the campaign for me personally. The campaign has been phenomenal but speaking with the same people, with the same dialogue, over and over is not the end game; hell I'm still in Act III. I admire the ambition but making something fun enough that you're happy not to skip is still getting skipped by me in some measure after x amount of playthroughs. All of these concerns could be mitigated by endgame though, which I would no longer begrudge playing through the campaign each season if the endgame provides enough variety so maybe it's premature for me to ask for an Adventure mode before I finish the game lol. |

"Most, and I only say most because someone will go "Nyo, I play it for the campaign", ppl play PoE for the end game. Grinding, min/maxing, crafting, economy, end bosses, challenges, league mechanics and so on, is what they want to do. As long as the campaign is some sort of toned-down "tutorial", ppl won't care about it. Furthermore, the "power creep" makes stuff from the campaign really fast redundant. Hm... an example to make it better understandable. Imagine you want to play racing games like, idk, Gran Turismo, where you want to tune your cars, win difficult races and so on, but every 3 months you need to pass your driver's license, no matter that you've won 1000 cups already. " Yeah you don't have to explain it to me, or Jonathan I'm pretty sure. I'm not stupid, he's not stupid. Everyone has heard the arguments a thousand times before. The question is, what could you do to the campaign so that it doesn't feel like you're passing your driver's license over and over? Because at the end of the day, endgame is just another campaign tacked on at the end of the campaign like a sequel. Why is the first campaign like passing a driver's license, but the second campaign like going for the cup? My personal view is that the structure of the campaign is the issue, where you go from one zone to the next in a path that's laid out for you, whereas in endgame you have some destinations that you have to get to, but the path you take there is up to you. Therefore, they need to map-ify the campaign, such that for example in act one, you have to go to the manor to kill Geonor at some point, but you can pass through the other zones in whatever order you like. Then I also think, for all the quest rewards throughout the game, there's an option to do some kind of make up quest later so you still get the reward. EDIT: I'll also add a thought I had a while ago, that whereas in endgame you're leveling up to reach a boss fight, in campaign you're trying to get through a boss fight so that you can level up more because the higher level zones are gated through them. That's why we need more freedom of movement in the campaign, so that passing through the final zone for each act is always possible, but you gotta get yourself to the point where you can survive the attempt first. " Exactly. This. They never budged on the campaign in PoE 1 for over ten years. There's no way in hell they're going to budge on it in PoE 2. People need to give up on asking for campaign skips and focus on figuring out how they could bring endgame magic into the campaign imho. |
