any chance crafting will be changed?
so to begin with
1. some players like the current 'crafting' system 2. some players do not like the current 'crafting' system feel free to still debate/argue with me etc. but at this moment there is no crafting in my opinion and just a gambling system. you pretty much use mats to roll the dice and see what you get, with no control at all. both diablo 4 and last epoch have better systems in my opinion, even if those systems also have problems of their own. is there any chance that the devs for this game are going to use these for inspiration to change/improve the system in this game? otherwise, my biggest problem is that it seems the entire game is based on trading (you might get stuff from vendors from time to time also of course) and yet this in and of itself is based on a wonky system with no auction house. for me this is kind of a big thing - because if i do not want to do the player to player trading (sorry i just do not trust other players) - i feel that i am gonna have a pretty tough time trying to 'perfect' my gear. i guess maybe ggg is in love with the current system of trading maybe? so what do others think? this is a big problem for me Last bumped on Jan 3, 2025, 1:22:49 PM

Got the core from an ultimatum that sold for 253 exalts. i don't trade just currency exchange. I have spent over 120 just trying to get 1 minor upgrade. Its nothing but accuracy on my caster that is never removed by chaos - or constant other useless mods. Or nothing but lowest of lowest tier rolls on ilvl 80 expert gear.

The "control" in current "crafting" is "supposed" to come from you picking which base items to put your materials into.
My use of quotation marks should tell you I agree with you lol, even if technically there is a way to influence crafting, it feels awful. |

I think there's 100% chance crafting will change over time as more league mechanics get introduced. It may take a while though.
What we have now I don't consider real crafting as there's so little strategy in getting favourable mods on items other than essences/sockets. Slapping things with exalts and hope feels more like a scratch off lottery ticket with each exalt exposing what was already there. "Beidat honored the pact, though Mancy wouldn't take off Doryani’s prototype."

" Yes crafting will get fleshed out..... It's not going to happen until after all the classes and weapons/skills are in the game though. New currencies will come along side new content/systems as we move closer to release. I just don't understand how so many ppl are expecting an EA game to be fully fleshed out. No crafting wont have as many options at the start as POE1 does, it can't. Not all of those systems are even coming over. Sure we'll probably see similar mechanics down the road as POE is a game that builds upon itself overtime thru leagues. |

I agree that this is indeed the worst crafting system in any modern arpg. Surprising coming from the team who had the most in depth crafting off all the games and any game for that matter with poe1. We are basically just using more tedious forms of identifying items. I have no doubt this will be re-worked in time. Essences are also really bad. 300 hours of play time and I've found 4 greater essences which aren't really even good. They just guarantee a "caster" modifier which can be a tier 1. There's no deterministic crafting. There is no skill or knowledge that'll help you get an edge. No real way to solve problems at the moment. Very bland and stale.
If you would of told me d4 will have a better crafting system than poe2 EA I would of told you youre absolutely delusion before launch but that is indeed the truth. Last edited by KraniumKrusher#3304 on Jan 3, 2025, 1:19:57 PM

crafting has changed dozens of times over the years in poe 1.
It will be no different in poe 2. |

If memory serves Chris [or others from GGG] have been wanting the whole, find it on the ground, slam it with EX, and "feel the sense of pride and accomplishment" for a while now.
Honestly I hope it's just an awkward phase that they'll grow out of :) **************************************************** A well thought out system where people of various skill / knowledge levels could all benefit would be great. Everything from the equivalent of rolling flasks all the way up to higher end crafting where you're vastly reducing the variability in getting the rolls you want with clever combinations of tactics. |
