Gifting stash tabs

Hello, i'm new to poe and i recently upgraded my support pack to Thaumaturge of the Vall, my friend is also interested in the game and since i have an extra code i've decided to give it to him. Now i understand that this code does not come with any points and i was wondering if i could also gift him a few stash tabs during the next sale. Sorry if this has been asked before but all i could find was posts from 7 years ago where people said that it was possible but you have to go through customer support and provide personal information to make sure this is not about rmt. Is that still true?
