Playing Minions Feels Janky and Bad - Please Give Us The Simple Fix

Playing with minions feels absolutely terrible right now. They are constantly getting stuck or trailing far behind even just standard walking speeds. A single enemy off screen from any direction other than the one you are currently walking can hold up your entire horde, making them die a second after they go off-screen. Don't even think about using blink or shield charge...

Then if you are walking, they will slowly die one at a time, ensuring that your respawn timer doesn't being to tick down until you are basically stationary.

The move command is practically useless. They still get stuck on every doorway and bridge. They still ignore you if they are in combat. They stop attacking for 2-3 seconds until every other minion has reached or attempted to reach that spot.

The easiest solution, even if only temporary until you can make them less brain-dead, is to revert the decision to make minions die when they are far away from you. This reversion to POE 1 mechanic would alleviate so many of the current issues.

That is exactly what the minions currently do. They die when they are too far away from you and respawn.

How many minions are you running? Yes, they are annoying in some of the maps (Augary) but it's really not game-breaking. A big annoyance for sure. But you can use the 'Direct Minions' key and it helps.

Lvl 87.5 infernalist minion build for me.

They spawn on you after a 4 second, refreshing respawn timer. If you keep running they die in a trickle, meaning the timer keeps climbing. God forbid you run into a rare that can then kill one of the stragglers that kept up with you.

I never said it was gamebreaking, it just feels horrible having to choose between starting most fights with a 3-4 second period of running in circles waiting for the timer or stopping to fight every white mob in the map.

I have no problem with a death timer, or even one that refreshes with each minion death(Even though that usually means boss fights are just dps attrition as they keep dropping and numbers whittle away without a chance to respawn).

Currently the best way around it feeling bad is to weapon swap, but you can't weapon swap your infernal hound so he's constantly lagging behind and resetting that respawn timer.

Lvl 92 Infernalist with 21 minions and every "revive faster" node on the tree. I have tried multiple builds, with and without minions, and the game feels so much better without them. It's such a simple fix to have them respawn on the character when they are too far out of range, it wouldn't be the first POE game to have that mechanic. I dare you to play Penitentiary and not feel your blood pressure rising by the end of it.
