Feedback on: Infernalist Demon Form
Currently Demon Form requires a few too many transformations on the normal campaign to take down bosses, on top of that there is a high level of risk/reward intensity that sort of falls flat against high health pool targets. It's frustrating that high engagement gameplay can't compete with the low engagement minion builds. The low engagement minion build is rewarded too heavily in the early game, scaling all the way to later stages of the game when gear and Spirit progression can finally start to sustain Demon Form and it's worth switching over. The loss of Spirit that Demon Form suffers isn't sufficiently compensated, as Spirit Gems can make or break character progression in the early game.
Frankly speaking, the cooldown on Demon Form is a bit long leaving your character quite vulnerable outside Demon Form, and Act II is too early into Normal Campaign to deal with an ever-decreasing health bar. Bosses have way too high of a health pool and you spend more flask charges than other classes do just to maintain the transformation; a very serious problem in prolonged fights. Possible solutions: -Move the "Mastered Darkness" effect into the base Demon Form node, but increase the cap to maybe 20 stacks. This higher cap still poses a medium-level risk while still reinforcing health regen on gear and passive skills. This keeps the power fantasy fairly accessible to early and mid game, and the core idea remains the same: stack as much health regen as you can find. -Replace "Mastered Darkness" with uncapped Demonflame stacks and possibly provide some Spirit or Resistances to help circumvent the loss of a vital resource that is tied to the scepter. Seems like a good long-term investment for Demon Form enthusiasts, and requires the commitment of 2 more ascendancy nodes. -More Support Gems that specifically target Shapeshifting. It's okay to support niche; curses have them, why can't Shapeshifting? At the end of the day, I want the option of playing Demon Form on my first play through; it would be nice if developer philosophy was consistent: " Achieving this philosophy is an admirable task, but at the moment it seems like these words are only applying to nerfs, and not the apparent discrepancy between Demon Form vs Minion build (I'm not asking for Minion nerfs btw.) Unlocking an Ascendancy path is a herculean task, and Demon Form shouldn't be pigeon holed into a late game option.
