Feedback after 67 hours of play time.
By far the absolutely worst aspect of poe2 is the trials.
I'm up to the 3rd trial and I looked at the Djinn Barya, saw that is said number of trials = 3. Literally said to myself, I can't be bothered playing anymore. Hated every second of the first 2 trials, hell I stopped playing poe1 due to ascendancy trials. They have always been the biggest killing point for me. Pros: Love the boss fights, they are enjoyable and challenging but not to the point where you hate it. I play witch so ranged dps, don't have the same issues as a melee character. Like how your screen isn't covered in loot every time you kill a rare and no loot filter needed is nice. Animations, design and graphics are on point! I like the new skill system apart from the uncut gem crap. Just let us buy from a vendor when you reach the pre set level. This is in turn let players enjoy trying new play styles as per the big selling point about poe2. Freedom to respec! (downside to respecting, you can't respec freely because it's just too damn expensive. Why does respecing need to be something locked behind gold? Black Myth Wukong as example) Cons: Ascendancy trails. Enough said up top. No such thing as crafting, just buy what you need with 1 exalts instead of wasting 3 on a dud rng chance that you just vendor because of the shitty roles. Learn from last epoch, their crafting system is on point! Campaign maps are far to big, just tells me GGG don't care about the players time when they are forced to spend 20mins running through a pointless expanse when all you care about is killing 2 bosses and getting to the end. -Don't even get me started on the fact if you die and have to re kill everything. Campaign, story is good but the enjoyment is killed with how long it takes just to get from point A to B. By the time I was half way through act 3 I had already had enough of it and was itching to get to the end game. Honestly not looking forward to act 4-6 if it took me 60 hours to just complete the campaign. Why isn't there an intergraded market in POE2? Why are we about to entre 2025 and we are using a website to have to whisper someone, hope they answer and then perform a manual trade? Only had a couple sales so far and have already had 2 people try and scam me. Load time to open the world map? Seriously have to sit there and wait 3-6 seconds. But I can open the end game map in an instant. I would have to say, my over all feelings. I didn't enjoy my time, the pros don't outweigh the cons at this point in time for me. Really do hope this changes over the course of the early access. Last bumped on Dec 16, 2024, 9:31:09 AM

You forgot to mention that (most) ascendancy classes don't add anything meaningful to your character that you can't (mostly) already get on the skill tree. I've played every character and have yet to feel like the power I receive from the ascendancy is more than that which I got on the tree already. There is a LLLLLOT of work that needs to be done before this game is even close to being "the #1 arpg" that Jon envisions.

" The decimating strike of the witch hunter feels really nice. (Especially when combined with explosion for 100% health) The titan can really stack MORE multiplicators, to sell "one shot" boss killing service. The fire witch health reservation allows her to control absurd amount of minions and at the same time - face tank better than actual tanks, with brutal amount of energy shield. Gemlings can play with 2 buttons, instead of 1, just because they do not suffer from support gem limits. If anything, I would say that some ascendancy classes are so much better than others. Correct me if I am wrong, but can you even compare how arsonist fire witch clears content, to the blood witch? For me those 2 classes are miles away... |

" Okay yeah, I'll admit this to be true. Some of them are indeed miles beyond the others. I should have stated exactly what ascendancies I meant. Deadeye, for example. Completely underwhelming. I guess what I mean to say is that there are some that feel amazing, and some that just feel like you might as well not even bother with the dookie trial system and just play vanilla. |

" The biggest turn off for me. I was never a "pro" at crafting. But I did enjoy it. 600 DPS crossbow would take me a month to craft, if I am moderately lucky. And I earned the currency in 3 days for it. Its complete bullsh*t. |

" On that I agree with you. 100%. I have a side question, if you allow me... Did you find reliable way to boost DEX based characters survivability? How do you make Deadeye survive longer? |

" Lots of evasion, and Wind Dancer. On my Rain of Arrows I also have Blind, Maim and Pin. I use escape shot to avoid monsters that are surrounding me. Unfortunately, the skill use time of that skill usually means that when I land I'm already surrounded again, but it does help in certain situations if I just spam it. I've contemplated going STR/DEX hybrid just so I can wear the AR/EV gear, but the amount of travel I have to do to get to the AR/EV nodes just zeroes out the damage I do. Evasion on its own is my least favorite defense because it works until it doesn't. There's just nothing there even close to the Ranger side that supplements Evasion enough to warrant sacrificing damage for survivability imo. Really the only other thing to do is get a good Electrocute or Freeze build going |
