On death ground effects and corpse explosion
I'm having an issue where i no longer enjoy doing maps
during the campaign and low level maps this was not an issue and was actually a fun and interesting mechanic. When I kill a rare enemy, it feels as though roughly 1 in 30 will blow up shortly after and if i'm stood there i will be 1 shot. as a game design feature you've added this delay and put some effect on the ground / corpse to telegraph that this will happen. this works great in campaign and levelling because i can see it. I cannot see it in high waystones, because there is loot in the way. It happens rarely enough that the most optimal way to play the game is to ignore the mechanic and just loot quickly anyway. There are several options to fix this issue: 1. make this happen more often so that every monster i kill i feel justified in waiting before i loot (i can't do this right now because it's too boring to wait for 3 seconds after every kill for the tiny but very real chance that i will die) 2. make this happen way less often (i understand that you love to have corpse explosion and on death 1 shot mechanics in the game and i will not convince you to remove them no matter how much the community would love it if you put a poll out to find out. you could make them happen way less though) 3. make life scale much better (it's very silly there are people running around with 20k ES (poe1 numbers), yet life beyond 2.5k is unachievable without a mirror level budget for most builds. 4. tune the damage numbers of these effects to be designed in a way that they're unlikely to 1 shot a 2k life 50% chaos res 75% ele res character 5. give me extra tries at the map so that i can re-enter after i die. (its a cool idea to remove the 6 portals from poe1, but to do this you can't have the same on death effects, visual clutter, and gut life scaling) 6. nerf the loot by 100x, if there's no loot then i can see the telegraphed 1 shot ground effect / corpse explosion (please don't do this) I love the game, and theres literally nothing else id want changed for any other reason. However, this one issue is making me so frustrated that I'm losing interest in playing the game and I don't think I'll stick to it if it's not changed soonish. I second this. Getting one shot by a corpse explosion that has absolutely no indication that it's going to happen is total BS. Along with the whole only 1 shot at a map when there are 6 portals is also BS. Add to that that all loot is lost when you die due to the map reset, and you have a recipe for players quitting in droves because all their progress is wiped out upon death. If I wanted to deal with these kinds of mechanics I'll just go back to playing Eve Online. Even dark souls games are more forgiving. At least they give you a chance to recover. Here it's just lost.
