I have a different suggestion : forget tiers, they are not what matters : what I want to know first and foremost is the relationship between stats and the item level, tiers are only there to simplify this.
When I look at an item in my inventory, I want to know whether I can expect to be able to find a better item and/or be able to crafbetter modifiers for that item : this has consequences for the spending of limited resources I might want to invest in it or not. ---- For instance I've found in PoE1 boots without movement speed, and I already have boots with +10% movement speed, so I want to know whether these new boots are able to roll a higher tier of movement speed or not if I make them magic. (Which is actually at ilvl 12, not 15, craftofexile is using outdeted information here.) So (on Alt-view), my boots with +10% movement speed should show something like : +10% Movement Speed (T1 : 1-11) (using the bottom-up tier convention of PoE2) So I would know that if the new boots have an ilvl of, say, 10 — then I have no hopes of crafting them into the next tier of movement speed. ---- And boots with top tier ms would show : +35% Movement Speed (T6 : 86+) So you would know that T6 is the highest tier possible : because of the '+', rather than a range. ---- And no, I don't want to have to go. each. time. to to third party websites to figure this out, any more than I want to use /itemlevel to figure out the level of an item (which, as I understand, what you had to do in PoE before the introduction of the Alt view). Notably because this becomes non-viable when you also are trying to keep some items for other future characters and have to quickly decide what is worth stashing and what is not. (Most of this I suggested already in this PoE1 thread.) ---- This also goes for the item bases themselves, base stats being so important for weapons and body armour, it would be nice if on alt view they would also show when you can expect an upgrade, for instance a Sturdy Crossbow of an ilvl 17 would show on Alt view : ilvl 17 (10-15) And you would know that you can already find better from where you dropped it, so it's probably a bad idea to waste orbs on it. ---- And of course all of this goes even more for new (or returning) players, who can't be expected to already know / remember this information, even for the most common uses (like my +ms% example here). " Nope. You said it yourself. The old way tells you all the information there is at a glance, no matter what. The new way tells you absolutely nothing if you don't know how many tiers there are for every item category, provided they haven't changed recently. |

The new tier way where the higher number the bettter, is so much better than poe 1.
On other hand, they should openly release information about all existing (currently) I guess now they can add more tiers to endgame content items. With their level requirements and even weights, and make it accessible in the game itself, as a wiki/details, instead of using external websites like Poe2DBTW |
