How is lightning templar?

I have a friend that is just starting with me and he is a templar. He is a guy that also does not like remaking all the time, so I want him to have a good stable build. Do the lightning skills in this game synergize with the tenmplar? Could anyone post any good builds out there?

And is it better to go pure caster templar or hybrid?

Lightning Strike would likely be the easiest lightning based ability to use, but dual totem Spark/Fork would also work. There is Lightning Arrow, but other classes get better use out of bows.
