Merging Stash Tabs

Would it be possible to get an option or purchasable transaction from shop to merge regular stash tabs to quad tab? If I have 4 premium tabs I would like to merge them to one quad premium or 4 regulars to one regular quad.

I'm afraid it is not possible to merge stash tabs in this way! I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Is it technical issue that makes it not possible or is it more of a game vision reasoning? I am just curious on why not ;)
Would be nice if we could merge them in PoE2. Just an idea.
I would loove and even pay for this feature!

Technical issues don't make features like this impossible. They make features like this difficult or ugly or inefficient to implement.

"It's not possible" likely translates to, "A decision was made to not allow this (for w/e reason, maybe because it would be prohibitively expensive to develop) so the framework to make it possible has not been built, thus it is *currently* not possible."

Nope, and chris pushed for this but was told it wasn't possible (and if it was worth it then you could rest assured that they would be offering it as a MTX)

I don't see how it would be “technically impossible” to implement such a feature.

I even believe it could help relieve some load on league change: I spent 2 hours, the other day, just sorting my stuff from crucible remove only tabs into standard tabs (and not even all of them). That's 2 hours spent by this player clicking each item/stack to inventory, then back to stash. Things looked a bit strange for maps: I had to convert some from crucible (as if the atlas had already changed, when the atlas passive map hadn't, but all my atlas passives were reset/reimbursed), but none from standard (iirc), and counts not updating right away… Whatever, two hours of bot-like behaviour from me, to be multiplied by the number of players who care (maybe a tad too much) for their stash organisation.

So I think it would nice enough on the servers to have an “auto merge tabs” feature, that it would even make sense to not limit it to a MTX.

On the other hand, SirGuySW suggested it would end up “difficult or ugly”. I believe the greater reason for not trying this, what “impossible translates to”, is that it would be horribly tedious to lay out the UX specifications, that it would require supplemental UI elements, etc. A whole can of worms best left “not in this universe”…

Because there is some automation involved and that can't be customized to what tabs YOU want merged.

It would likely start off with remove only then to what ever random one it likes, at which point they'll have a lot of support tickets and demands which would then force them into having to do it manually and great cost, so totally not feasible

That's because you're assuming least effort UX specifications ;)

Indeed, I've just noticed an "update maps" in a remove-only maps tab (from standard to standard). Upon clicking it, a pop up warns that I should set aside the individual maps I'd rather keep. "Ok" replaces that pop up with a progress bar (with basic sound and a cancel button). The process even carries on when closing the stash.

Those pop ups / sound / etc. are examples of “additionnal UI elements”.

So it's always feasible, in a way or another. It's just simpler for some use cases (say: currency, maps, essences, fragments…) than for others, e.g. generic tabs (affinity or not), unique items tabs…

Defining how “automatic tab transfers” should work in all situations could end up in huge developping costs (time to specify, implement, test, get burnt by users for every corner case…).

And yes, we could also agree that the difference between “way too difficult” and “impossible” is quibble (:
