So i started playing PoE...

First thing I need to apologies for my bad english and also if these questions have been answered already...

I've been playing 2 leagues/seasons so far, Legion and now Crucible. I usually play with one friend but since he quit and moved to another game I want to continue to play PoE. So here are my questions:

Regarding leagues/seasons

1. Why is everyone playing the league/season and not playing in standard? Seems more logic to me to play standard since that is longer than 6 months (or whatever time period takes for a league to end).

2. Is it worth playing standard? I was thinking in making a char and playing casual in standard, can I do that? Can i find items to trade there? Or is everyone selling for kalandras only?

3. What happens if I make a char in standard then let's say the Crucible league/season will end and will be transferred to standard? Is there are any risk to change my skill points on char?

Regarding the game

4. Which one is shaper and which one is the elder? Coz in game I see eater of the worlds and exarch, but in the same time they refer to as Shaper and Elder...

5. Which is the most common method to farm currency (trading included)? Seems like I can farm around 5-10 div, but I'm sure im doing something wrong, since only 1 good item costs around 50 div. I know that depends also to league/seasons that I'm playing but I was wondering if there is any common way to farm currency.

6. What happens after I complete the quest "defeat the memory of the elder in the shaper's realm" coz I dont get any quests?

7. Is there a known website that offers good builds? And when I say good, I'm talking about builds that are detailed and that a noob can follow. I tried RF from Pohx but seems like is capped on damage, I cant beat Maven for instance...

1. Fresh start, fresh economy and the new league mechanic is there. These are not available in standard. The normal league period is 3months but they sometimes extend it like this league.

2. Sure, you could see it being worth playing in standard. If you don't want to play the league and want to play with a character you already have. People still sell in standard but it might be a bit harder to find the stuff because people might not do sales for only a few chaos.

3. Well, when league ends and the items & characters are transfered to standard basically nothing happens at that point. But when new league starts and they might make changes to skill tree? That's when you'll need to review the changes and how it affects your characters.
But your Atlas will reset and so will your Atlas skill tree


4. Elder and Shaper are completely different entities from Eater of Worlds and Searing Exarch. You'll get to fight them by defeating their guardians. Both have 4 guardians that will drop a fragment.

5. If you're looking at items and the only 1 good item is 50 div you're setting your expectations way too high when it comes to gear.

6. You should get a void stone.

7. Pohx RF can beat Maven. Looking at your character you're lacking HP in your chest and your amulet has none. Not going to look deeper as I've other things to do. But Maven fight is also just following mechanics. Where to stand, where to place the degen balls, dodging the lasers. You're not meant to take her stuff on your face.

There is some people in Standard league anyway

People play league because experienced players can easily max out several characters (Level 95-100) in the span of 3 months. I personally stop playing a character when it is done, so there would be no point for me to touch standard.

If you are looking to beat Maven with RF, it takes a decent amount of skill and knowledge of mechanics. RF is super tanky and the price you pay is that it does next to no boss damage. The Maven fight has mechanics that can shut off your regen, which effectively renders you dead. PohX can do it does NOT mean any new player following his guides can.

I did it, I didnt activate RF, I only killed Maven with traps.

That's certainly one way to get around that. Congrats!

busted build in Standard plus deep delve is fun for some people
