CPU and Shader Lag spikes

Hey guys
I just wanna be able to do some of the high end content with more than 5FPS. My game runs super smooth most of the time but when it comes to spawning monster in maps I get huge Lag spikes or freezes. Opening a Legion (either 1 fps or a total freeze for 3-4 secs), King harbinger (4 FPS or freeze till dead) and god forbid I get them on Deli maps or mistakenly have beyond on the maps.

Its always the same the CPU ms goes from 10-20 to 200+ along with the Shaders bar going crazy.

I found an older post about this and tried all the fixes they had listed and also have tried all the possible fixes listed in the general trouble shooting thread.

My spec.
Cpu: i7-9700k
GPU: RTX 2070 Super
Ram: 16GB
On SSD

Also before someone says upgrade PC. I have a friend that has much lower specs but he can enter my maps and have 0 problems So I dont think its about the Specs.

If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know, I just wanna play the game

I'm sorry you have this issue, and so do I. It is not an 'old pc' issue. I have way overkill specs for this game and I have issues as well. I hope we can find answers.

Your PC is fine. I have nearly the same system like you (R5 5500, RTX 2070s, 32Gb Ram, M2 SSD).
My System is going a bit wild, loud and warm like in no other game if I overjuice Content and I have some Frame loss but no freezes and huge frame drops like yours.
Anyway I am interested if you find a solution, because I feel I am chasing my PC to death and if theres something to change.

If you have win 11, google 'disable xbox gamedvr.' I did and my issues happen way less. it is not 100% gone yet, but close. I also unistalled xbox game bar.

I will keep looking for the other piece. I know steam did update the steam overlay so I may nix that for poe.


Still puzzled as to why my overkill pc has any lag.

amd 3950k
amd radeon 5700xt
128 gigs

On paper, I should never lag.

Hey Thanks for the advise but I have already tried this and the game bar is still off. I have turned off/ uninstalled all of the windows background programs that I dont use.

Do you have such problems in other games? Were you able to play normally before and the problem started happening at some point? Or was it always that bad in PoE?

Maybe your components are overheating? Check the temperatures.
Also make sure Engine Multithreading is enabled in game settings. Check if there are any processes working in background that are causing heavy load on cpu.
