With todays production costs and budgets, I think $70 is an OK price of a video game that is more or less designed to (try to) give you 100+ hours of entertainment. The problem, as I see it, is when full-priced, AAA games also throws in-game stores, season/battle passes and MTX'es at you.
If I pay nothing for a video game, I expect/I'm OK with having to pay for certain things. When I pay $70 for a video game, that price should include everything. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

A long time ago, players had no idea certain games were in development, so they were being released when they were done. Now it's so much money in the gaming industry and the whole developing process is a big marketing campaign, building up a hype that is near impossible to live up to, both when it comes to quality and release dates.
