just wanted to ask some insights we you guys if it is still viable to revive the counterattack build for sanctum 3.20

had watched some guides on YT although im just unsure if its still enjoyable to do this build up until mapping stages {T16 preferabbly}


any comments,insights, suggestions is highly appreciated

Test it. There can be a lot of fun in trying things out, on your own. See if its worth the gem slots.

You could try using with for Life Gain on Hit support. Used it this league works well for life recovery when map disabled your leech


It does fall off around T14 maps
What level of 'viability'? Viable depends a fair bit on how much content you intend to do, and how optimized the other parts of your biuld and itemage are.

That said sanctum seems like a poor time for a counterattack build due to it not mixing well with the league mechanic; ofc if you're ignoring the league mechanic then that becomes irrelevant.

I did a counterattack build last league, and it worked reasonably well, it was still doing fine in red maps, though I didn't get to the big bosses as I'm not very good a player. I cleared a lot of t16 corrupted maps, though I couldn't manage lava lake. It also had an issue with clear speed; while it was extremely tanky, the low clear speed made it poor at things like incursion and blight, as well somewhat slow at generating currency.
There's a unique shield which is really fun for the build, I was still using it even in red maps, I forget the name though, and it may well not have been optimal. Getting +275 cold damage on counterattacks was hilarious though once you add in multipliers. It might be on my char list somewhere.

I would say "not viable" in the grand scheme of things.

Back in the "melee glory days", aka "Legion", counter attack builds were quite strong, especially paired with the Facebreaker gloves - mostly because the counter-attack skills had huge flat physical added, which went like hand in glove (pun intended) with Facebreakers. You could also, quite easily reach 75/75 block on melee characters, which is VERY hard these days - especially without Glancing Blows.

Today, though, Facebreaker is a shadow of what it used to be, Herald of Purity don't work with Facebreaker anymore and the counter-attack skills quickly lost half of their added physical damage. These are the sort of things that happens when melee enters player's radars.

Riposte is bugged in 3.20. It's not triggering most of the time. GGG are ignoring this sadly.
