it's been in since the rerelease of bestiary where einhar throws the net.

It wasn't in the original Bestiary league since Blizzard's mobile announcement failure didn't happen until later that same year

As far as I remember it was introduced with Betrayal, when the old masters were replaced by Einhar and friends.

When bestiary went core, and they dropped the usage of nets, they also introduced this line. And yes, it was specifically to poke fun at Blizzard. Always makes me chuckle when Einhar blurts it out.
