Story changes in epilogue [Opinion / Suggestion].

Hello there!

Opinion:

I'm probably in minority regarding this, but wanted to share my thoughts.

I think it's a shame that old atlas mechanics and Sirus story / lore / questline have been removed. For me this story gap it's off-putting since last time I played (Heist league) I did Conquerors, but burned out before Sirus.

This league I wanted to kill Sirus for the first time, but arrived little too late :C

Suggestion:

Could you add an option so players can choose to optionally play Sirus story questline?

Thanks for reading :)

You can still farm Sirus. Just kill the conquerors for their fragments.

Why not leave both atlases available? That would satisfy all players tastes, plus GGG could cross-reference data on how many players were grinding on which atlas as to improve future content.

IK. It just feels out of place that you meet Maven first and then kill Sirus :p

Wasn't that already the case?

Heist league was the last time I played and I don't think Maven was introduced yet. As a player that wanted to beat old atlas story it's kinda off-putting.

Bad timing I guess :v

Me.

Beats having to fight Uber Elder and Maven to get all maps to T14+ like before.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

Good thing GGG doesn't listen to casuals otherwise poe would be diablo not poe

The suggestion is to add Sirus story questline, not to change mechanics. Other than that I'm happy with POE state :D
It's a fair request but you have to remember, you're playing the ARPG version of a soap opera. They need to update/recycle the plots every so often (since they're often inextricably tied to mechanics) and in doing so essentially wipe the old ones. I say 'need' because that's how the model works. Since they've invoked a multiverse setup ever since the Atlas was implemented (hell, maps really, given they're tangible dreams give or take), there's no reason why they couldn't let you do different story paths. It'd just be too much effort for the devs to implement when it's all about overwriting/retconning for a Game As A Service. You also have to remember they're a small, indie studio.

How this shifting focus on a single plot/timeline will tie in with the timey-wimey shenanigans of Path of Exile 4.0 is yet to be seen, but I think the fact that a campaign set roughly 20 years after the first ends up in the same extraplanar space will be absolute proof that the Atlas exists outside space and time. Unless there's already been a plotline confirming that -- I don't watch this soapy anymore, so I wouldn't know.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
