[3.20]⚡ZaPwner's Crackling Lance Occultist⚡48M Pinacle Boss DPS

At first the build was very clunky and prone to dying due to low HP pool, having to stand to dish out damage and the fact that a lot of stuff can kill you very easily if you combine those two points.

As the posters above I made some changes to it (but in a different direction) and now I am pretty happy and dying only happens if I don't pay attention or try to run maps with 7-times possessed super juiced bosses. Mapping is still not the fastest (you still have to stand to deal dmg). And since I picked up a cheap watcher's eye early on, it can even run reflect maps as and tank almost anything maps throw at you. Haven't tried some of the pinnacle fights yet as I am still experimenting with different gear choices as I had luck with a few harvest random rolls, but overall I really like crackling lance now :-) Will have to see what I put into my empty 4L boots...

The biggest upgrade was actually getting more cast speed, as that helped a lot with mobility in fights, when you can almost instantly get back up to top dps within a second.

Oh I really like this variation. If I feel like I'm getting stuck on the bosses with my current set up I'll have a think about switching to this, thank you.

I'm thinking about the crit version. But I don't think occultist could have enough crit chance

I switched to your recommendation with AA and max block and you're absolutely right that this is the way to go. My character can survive so much stuff now.
I don't have capped res but because I can just stand in the middle of everything hitting me I have 100% up time on my flasks so I could theoretically drop even more elemental resistances on my gear if I needed to.

There's no way we'd have enough passives to go crit with everything else this build is trying to do so having just enough to maintain elemental overload seems like the right way to go.

I'm looking at a LL COC Occultist, seem possible.
Gonna check after finishing my work.
The question is how much you can further scale from this point in terms of damage?

so in theory at least in PoB 9-10M seem reachable with very good survivability. The issue with a huge chunk of that dps is with awakened controlled destruction and elemental overload ... which do not work well together in practice. You can go 15-20 seconds without a single crit (6casts/s + 5% crit chance) if you have to move from time to time, which makes 40% more dmg of elemental overload not applicable in most fights (as can be seen in @qwerty22121998's Video showing the Maven fight, where elemental overload is rarely active). My personal experience is that for real bossfight dps arcane surge is actually more effective, even though it has lower theoretical dps in PoB.

I really like the modified build right now, as dying is a challenge and dps is enough to ignore most boss mechanics. My gear is still far from perfect and too much focused on survivability due to aiming for lvl 100 at the moment, but PoB still shows around 6-7M Sirus boss dps (https://poe.ninja/pob/33U).

recorded some videos of different fights how this looks like in reality:

Maven's Invitation: The Twisted

Elder

Uber Atziri (with reflect immunity jewel switch)
https://youtu.be/xulOOnpKssA

Maven

The Feared and Uber Elder might follow soon, forgot to record the last few (all deathless).

All in all, I am happy I tried this build, even though it was modified quite a bit after lvl 90 to have better survivability, Crackling Lance Occultist is a lot of fun!

Later edit:
Did some more sims with the new forbidden flame + flesh, and reaching 11+M dps is not an issue, even without awakened controlled destruction and without sacrificing survivability (you can still facetank & melt almost all content). Changed my setup to this and the increased shock effect from Shaper of Storms is a noticeable increase in boss dps https://poe.ninja/pob/3eP:-)

I also dropped Herald of Thunder for Anomalous Tempest Shield, which on 20% quality + ashes of Stars +30% quality chains 6 times on block... which is an immense help with map clear speed. This also allowed to rearrange some skill points due to the awesome spell block the skill offers.

Even later edit:
Some more variations and item upgrades later, pob at least seems to show 20m dps with sizeable tankiness: https://poe.ninja/pob/4zy

One of the cons listed is "Cant do ele reflect maps" but according to PoB Bastion of Elements says "Cannot take reflected Elemental Damage". Am I missing something or is that specific con outdated?

this build is not taking Bastion of Elements by default (as it is an occultist build). You can of course use forbidden flame + flesh to take it, but there are better options available.
I have a question: Why do you not use Zealot's Oath to get your life flasks to regenerate Energy Shield?

Life Flasks do not profit from Zealot's Oath. That keystone only affects pure "Regeneration" stats and flasks recover life, not regenerate.
