Heist - change member brooch AFTER seeing rewards?

I've been entering heist map to 'scope' available rewards, then return to harbour to exchange the brooch on my heist ally/party member (to increase chance of chests having duplicate rewards) - does this work?
or are the equipment benefits locked in when you sign the contract?

You might be misunderstanding how that works--duplicate rewards trips when you open the box (you see 2 identical sets of stuff drop out, one after the other.) I'm not sure how you can scope anything w/o opening boxes.

Some of the rogue gear is locked in when you open the instance.

There is a simple way to check. When in the contract, look at the map mods. If your brooch mod shows up there, its locked to the instance and changing rogue gear now wont change it.

ah yes - that's a great/simple way to check.
I did so and you are of course correct :-)

I'm talking about the larger reward chest in their separate rooms, which have symbols on them indicating what TYPE of reward is inside.

but since changing equipment AFTER entering the instance is not possible, it's a moot consideration.
