Metamorph vat meter is filled yet no itemised sample drop

After allocating "High Yield" in valdo's rest atlas tree, when the vat meter is filled it does not drop an itemised sample. You can change the inputs to maybe "overfill" it and sometimes it will drop an itemised sample but based on the wording of High Yield node, I figured it should drop an itemised sample once filled regardless.

As far as I'm aware, Unique enemies other than map bosses (for example, Warband leaders) can drop organs, but those organs cannot drop itemized samples.

Wait, does the vial require one of the organs to be unique in order to drop? I'm guessing I've never before filled it without putting in a unique.
