"Item Has The Wrong Base Type"

Hi all. Although ive had the game for years ive never really got into it until recently.

I have been following some guides in relation to Syndicate progression (which im loving) and i have managed to get 'It That Fled', upto 3 star and into research. I have now completed the Reasearch safe house and located the Syndicate Crafting Bench. I have with me 3 breach stones (as per guide im following), these are:

Esh's Charged Breachstone
Tul's Charged Breachstone
Chayula's Enriched Breachstone

According to the guide i have followed, with 'It That Fled' at rank 3 i should be able to upgrade these breachstones from their base level. However, no matter which i put into the crafting station, all i get is: "Item Has The Wrong Base Type" and nothing happens.

On the crafting station it says: "Modify A Breachstone, Making It More Challenging And Rewarding". Yet nothing i do is working and after going forward and back i have one portal left.

Is this a bug or am i missing something?

Apologies if i have missed something obvious, as mentioned ive only been playing a week or so!

The crafting benches for "It That Fled" are only able to upgrade Breachstones (eg Esh's Breachstone). They are not able to upgrade already-upgrade Breachstones (eg Esh's Charged Breachstone).

as above, you have to get the very BASE breachstone in order to upgrade it.

the ones you (presumably) purchased were cheaper, because they cannot be upgraded and are not the highest tier 'pure'

Thanks for the responses. All the breachstones were drops so i assumed they were base level, but clearly not!
