Reddit whining destroyed whole league mechanic in 5 days
" This is true - if we're talking Eastern ARPG traditions (World of Mana, Kingdom Hearts, Mega Man Legends). Western ARPGs err towards Diablo clones. |

" The term you're looking for is hack and slash. That is what diablo clones are, they're about the body count. The actual arpg term doesn't change. If there's every any difference between asian genres and western ones you put an extra letter in front of things. kmmo, jrpg, etc. Skyrim is the posterchild of what an actual arpg is. |

"An ARPG can be whatever they want it to be as long as it retains the killing part. Tons of ARPG's pull this off and are more successful than PoE. The fact that the ARPG acronym itself has the term ROLE-PLAYING in it, means it has other avenues it can take in terms of what the game has to offer, not just killing things. AND PoE has already done this with hideout decorating, trap avoidance from labyrinths, decision making with the syndicate board, and tons of other ways. I never understood this agenda to constantly push PoE into being some simple-minded Diablo 2 clone with no variety in what the game has to offer other than killing things. Offering more side activities than just killing is actually good and prevents the game from becoming stale. So I completely disagree and am glad the devs are bringing more role-playing elements into the game that don't just involve killing and involves more thinking for once. 🔷🔶🔰🌀✨Standard>Leagues✨🌀🔰🔶🔷

@OP I think you’re looking for something from this game that it can’t really provide. In the end it’s about killing stuff and most players (including myself) just want to do that. I enjoy the genre-bending a lot, don’t get me wrong. But stealth was never going to work. Let’s not kid ourselves.
Besides, just running past everything was far less engaging and interesting to me than simply killing and looting like the rest of the game. I hated not getting exp from heists. Quick solution: increase the alert penalty from chests so we still have to make meaningful choices (but then the loot better be good). We're all in this leaky boat together, people.

" Then the league mechanic should of never been brought out. Not every league is for everyones play style like last league I did not play because I dont like crafting but I didnt bitch and complain until they changed it. Some obviously were fine with the mechanic how it was but as usual GGG listens to the word of Reddit like it is god. They have been doing this for years now, they literally are turning into Blizzard and in couple years im sure someone will make a video like fall of GGG like they did with blizzard. |

" There were plenty of complaints to that effect on these forums as well. Saying it was all because of Reddit is disingenuous when people were also complaining here. And Heist still has issues that do need to be addressed even with this change (mobs are still overtuned, for one). |

" It works in Skyrim, because unlike PoE, there's more to do than murder entire screens of enemies and the game's AI was built to factor in stealth. PoE was not built with stealth in mind. Hell, the foundation of the game was go from A to B and leave a trail of death and destruction in your wake. Heist could easily be implemented in Skyrim. In PoE, you have to work with the system and the system doesn't like stealth. The easy way GGG can make it work is turning the league mechanic into a smash-and-grab burglary and then fighting your way out to secure it. The harder way would be to make the zones much larger and replace most of the stationary guards with patrols. To put it more simply: Think of Heist as a more fleshed out version of Haku's mission when we had the old roster of Forsaken Masters. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds. Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! im not playing this league (weeks of betatesting.. got tired of that) but correct me if im wrong:
if the alert metter is gone it is delve clone when you go trough a pre-set path following a cart/rogues and killing everything picking loot on your way in and then killing everything on your way out isnt that the main league mechanic, something that made its identity just got removed? or is there something more to that? |

" The Alert meter is not gone, it's just nerfed. At this point only cracking chests raises the alert level. GGG have stated they're looking into tweaking the alert level from chests and the like. |

" I mean.. your post is kind of off topic. The quote block you're replying to is about me saying instabing guards shouldn't raise alert because that makes no sense, and then with the other guy replying that stealth in arpg isnt the same elsewhere.. as if this common sense interaction magically changes with game genre. |
