PoE turned me into a newt, er, i mean an accountant

* atziri fragments
* breach fragments
* legion shards/fragments/whatever
* shaper fragments (no more i guess, huh?)
* harbinger shards
* divination cards
* essences
* beasts
* sulfite
* the stuff you collect in delve (azurite?)
* veiled weapons so i can get veiled weapon mods
* oils
* the things you find in the pyramids
* i gotta do stuff with the syndicate - which is kind of collecting more stuff - although it's not a thing.
* breach rares - completely useless - please GGG just get rid of them
* talisman thingies- slightly more useful than breach rares but if they disappear from the game - who would actually care?

I'm sure i'm forgetting things.

Now there's something else in the next league. i don't know what it is, but I know i won't bother with it, because unless i play 6 hours a day i'll never find enough of it or the actually valuable type of it to actually do whatever it is i'm supposed to do with it in the league. so then i'm skipping the league "mechanic", so then why am i playing the league ?

you know, like oils.

yeah i get it, it's an rpg, ur supposed to find loot. and yes i know it can't all be good stuff. but it seems that the loot is incredibly incoherent at this point.

somewhat like the game. there are so many sideshows now. some of them are fun - atziri is kind of fun. blight is not fun. i never do delve.

i guess that's good. people can play the things they like. but it makes for a lot of stuff that just gets skipped.

It seems that PoE is just getting crufty.

so true. sometimes in a good way, sometimes not.

I think the problem is more one of coherence.

essences are a good example of something done right. the essence mob is a natural part of the map. they don't take very long. they can be tough depending on the mods. the essences can be combined to make stronger essences. when you get an essence at low level it's very useful.

things like oils are done completely wrong. either you find the 1 or 2 that's really worthwhile and if you don't then everything else is trash. why not make the oils like essences and allow them to be combined to create the better/stronger varieties ?

They can. Oils trade up 3:1.
I like there being many options for things to play, even if I myself have no interest in some of those options. My only problem is being forced to run any of them because necessary rewards (such as 5 or 6 link recipes) are locked inside them.

Yep, the content gating is a big part of why I stopped playing leagues altogether and stick with standard. Many leagues-worth of janky if not outright broken league mechanics didn't help, either, but the idea of having to redo so much added stuff every three months is just not even remotely appealing to me.

the only things you have to 'redo' are delve and betrayal, or just skip betrayal and pay someone to craft for you like everyone else. With the map master changes it's easy to focus on one league at a time, which would pretty much be delve

So basically, either work through the gated/RNG methods and/or go through all the risks and whatnot that comes with dealing with other players.

Or, just play on standard and avoid the added hassles. I've been playing for many years, every league up to and including Synthesis, and I just don't care to jump through the extra hoops that have been added over the last 1.5yrs or so. Going through that part of the progression once is enough for me.

I have a pretty good sense of humor. I'm not German.

oops. guess i shouldn't have quit the league at 3 weeks and i would have figured that out. or even if i had just guessed.

i stand corrected...

well. regardless i wonder if the nifty new "crafting" features of the next league will be available to mere mortals in some non-trival way.
